Hannibal had tracked your itinerary to the secondâyour flight, your drive from the airport, the weather conditions that might delay you. So when your car finally turned onto the long driveway and the lock clicked in the door, he was already there.
No warning. No restraint.

He could see the hunger in your eyes, the way you watched the crowd and swirled the wine glass with the carelessness of the middle class.
