it was in the back room of a dispensary in rural VA, there was an indoor fire pit, Lil Wyte was there too & the whole thing lasted maybe 5 minutes, seems like a fever dream or something, surreal is an understatement😱😂🙏

I will try to update on here more often too, tumblr was my original go to social media for over a decade & I only stopped posting when they changed their content restrictions, but maybe I’ll try this again.

we did an interview for a UK blog about Venus in Scars & to be honest, we were hesitant about a lot of the questions & ended up omitting a couple that were too prying &/or personal or just not relevant to us.
as it turns out, we were right to be a little guarded, as further digging on their site found some content that we’d rather not be associated with. to be clear, none of this material was illegal, racist/homophobic, or anything of that nature, just stuff that we’d prefer to distance ourselves from, like borderline glorifying self harm & things like that.
this project is an outlet for us & while we’ve both dealt with our fair share of issues, it’s not something we like to dwell on & if anything Venus In Scars is about escaping those things, not wallowing in them.
so with that said, I am self publishing the interview here for anyone who wants to read it, but i will not link to or promote for their site, so please don’t ask.
it’s not an issue worth having them shut down or dragging them online over, they have every right to post the content they do, but in turn we have the right to reclaim what’s ours without providing them a larger audience as a result.
(we are all for free speech & very much anti censorship, especially when it comes to art, so while we don’t agree with everything they post on their site, we would also defend their right to post whatever weird shit they want, albeit without attaching our name to it or appearing to condone the content)

my friend Lukas is a long time supporter of most everything I've done & just an all around good dude, had fallen out of touch with him since 2016 & he had messaged me on here to touch base about doing a print version of Fond Affections, we're trying to figure out the details now (as I unfortunately lost most of the material a while back) but stay tuned for more details to come...

my buddy Haultaine @mainstreammediamail lives in TX & runs a blog/label/operation called Void Castle. he recently posted some kind words & feedback on the Revenge Technician tape as well as my current false crime/eye violence zines over on his blog: voidcastle.wordpress.com he also talks about some @brainsandersen projects + Suspiria, Gummo, Deathspell Omega & a range of other gnarly weirdness in his most recent entry. honored to be featured on a page I admire in such good company & happy to be comrades with Haultaine who has been a supporter, friend & inspiration since I met him last fall on tour with Bryan Saunders & he hosted a show for us at the then headquarters of Void Castle in Denton TX. my track "combat shock" is highly inspired by him & others like him who served in the military & now suffer as a result, nothing but respect for these humans.
since I've all but abandoned this account, I figured I'd post a quick update on what's been going on... first off, Mannequin Hollowcaust is currently on hold. I've done that project since 2003 & it seemed like time for a reset & a fresh start with a different approach. this page will stay up as I don't intend to change url's or start another tumblr account, so this will be here as an archive of MH activity & releases if nothing else for now. my new project is called Revenge Technician, it's similar to MH in some ways but extremely different in others. i do not consider it a noise project, though elements still remain as I'll always feel connected to that world. RT is a beat driven, lo-fi, cut up industrial project. it's more structured & focused than MH, especially where rhythm is concerned, and as of now I'm using no effects or vocals in the construction of this project, mainly cut up & layered samples plus a power drill for extra live rhythm. this approach may change as the project grows, but as of now it feels like a fresh canvas for me in it's minimalism but still similar in alot of ways to where MH material has been headed for the last couple years. I debuted this project live last week & released a C20 tape to coincide with it. this cassette as well as several thematically connected zines are now available in my store: headdestroyer.bigcartel.com as well as a few older titles that are still available. tapes & records are $5 & zines between $3-$5 (before shipping) in my store & I plan to keep pushing out at least one zine or tape a month for the entire year, so stay tuned. as always, thanks for your support in any of my projects, all funds go back into making more stuff & I'll never crowd fund or ask for your money in any way without something to offer in return. all inquiries, correspondence &/or hate mail can still be directed to [email protected] thanks friends. #tennesseetrashelectronics #headdestroyer #revengetechnician

void filler. this one was done to focus on something @tarvis_maximus is letting me try @_thehideaway_ in the upcoming weeks/months. starting tomorrow night (& most every Tuesday there's not an actual show booked) I'll be opening up with no cover & random beer specials, playing weird music on dead formats & encouraging folks to come be creative at the bar... as in bring your sketchbooks/art supplies/crafting materials/writing utensils/whatever & hang out with other weirdos & see what happens. gonna give it a try anyway, so tomorrow night I'll be bringing a cassette deck & a ton of tapes to blast over the PA, feel free to bring a couple yourself & I might play em depending on how the night goes. if we're able to keep doing these I'll eventually bring a turntable for record nights & maybe even drawing/music theme nights, so please spread the word & support if this sounds up your alley.
