Hey all! Been working on a little something to ease myself back into drawing Heartstopper pages. I’m so proud of this mini-comic! I hadn’t drawn proper comic pages for over six months and I’d been really worried that my drawing skills would have worsened in that time. But I think this is the happiest I’ve ever been with a mini-comic. Thanks for your support this year and I really hope you enjoy this little story.

Asian Royalty: 6 ruined castles across Asia, reconstructed While some centuries-old castles are still standing tall, sadly others haven’t withstood the ravages of time, war, or natural disaster quite as well. To give you an idea of what once was, Budget Direct has collaborated with a team of researchers, architects and digital CGI masters to bring six Asian castles back to life, digitally. Here’s Japan’s Hagi Castle, which was built in 1604 but sadly was dismantled in 1874.

Other castles explored in the series of reconstructions are:

The Old Summer Palace, Beijing, China

Citadel of Ghazni, Ghazni, Afghanistan

Raigad Fort, Raigad, Maharashtra, India

This is the best message for Alec on his birthday I could think of. Alec, my love, I remember inventing you and loving you when no one else had met you; I remember thinking of one of my best friends, who is now no longer with us, and wanting to give him the happy ending that he never got. 

Alec, you will get the moon and the stars, the leadership you deserve, and the man you love. And there’s still so much more for you to experience. :)

And now a snippet from Red Scrolls. Don’t worry I’ve got a little Malecy one for later, but I wanted to post something just about Alec, his heart and his growth.

“Helen,” Alec said. “The Clave tells us not to trust Downworlders. Despite the Accords, despite everything, we all get indoctrinated, and we —” He broke off, looking up at the clear, cold stars. “I used to follow the rules because I thought it would keep everyone I cared about safe,” he said. “But I’ve started to realize that everyone I care about is a bigger group and a different group than the Clave was built to accept.”

“So what are you suggesting we do?” Helen said.

“We change the Clave,” said Alec. “From inside. We make new Laws. Better ones.”

“Institute Heads can suggest new laws,” said Aline. “Your mother —”

“I want to do this myself,” said Alec. “I’ve realized — I don’t need to change. And neither do you, Helen, or you, Aline. It’s the world that needs to change, and we’re going to be the ones to change it.”

Chiang Mai Residence and Studio by Neil Logan Architect

Designed in collaboration with the owners, the house consists of three separate buildings loosely organized around courtyards and an entrance structure. All of the buildings are slightly raised from the ground and linked by covered walkways. Each building houses a different function, living and eating areas in one, sleeping and washing in another and work or play in a third.

Despite these separations the transparencies of each volume reconnect to form a unified spatial network. This is further enhanced by the site’s existing vegetation which was left undisturbed. The structure is made of precast concrete columns, beams and deck elements with wood and steel windows. The interior and exterior finishes combine wood, ceramic, terrazzo and exposed concrete.
