This is goodbye. I'm going to keep this as short and to the point as I can. I have met some amazing, amazing people. I will miss those people; I will not miss stressing over blogs and drafts; never, ever feeling good enough; and I will not miss the heartache that some of this has caused. I am on Skype, if you would like to keep in touch. I will put my handle in the tags. I could wax poetic about what a wonderful time I've had, but the truth is there is a reason I am leaving (for good, this time) and it has nothing to do with what an awesome place this is. I prefer a different environment. I wish each of you every happiness. I hope that you go on to find partners you adore. I hope that you write threads you love and find plots that fulfill you in every way you want to be fulfilled. But this is where the road ends for me and my muses. Goodbye!! Ali

Hiatus

You all know what hiatus means, so I’m going to skip that part and get down to the nitty gritty.

I need time away. Serious time away from tumblr, not just “oh I’ll put drafts on hold and lurk mobile”–nope. Time away. I’m deleting the app and staying off my computer.

RP is a hobby, and it’s something I need to feel fun or it’s not worth it. Lately, it hasn’t been fun. I’ve been thinking about deleting all of my accounts since May or June–that feeling gets stronger on the daily so that means it’s time to take a break. Probably past time.

I don’t know when I’ll be back. I will leave my skype in the tags if you’d like to chat. Until then–

Ixchel fought letting the surprise show on her face before thinking up a reasonable price– surely less expensive than what she deemed it’s better by any vendor who had been painting their deities for much longer than she.  

Batiatus reached for his purse. “It is fine work,” he complimented again. “A worthy addition to any household in all of Atlantis.” He offered the coin to the girl and took the amphora for himself. “Gratitude.”

“If my slaves cause trouble in the market place, you may rest assured that they will be appropriately disciplined. Though it does cause surprise-- Nasir has never brought shame to the house of Batiatus. Still, it is the nature of a slave.”

She ignored his words about an heir, as she often ignored her husband’s advances to bear him such. “I fear he is not, but he will be returning shortly. Please, come in, some refreshments and a comfortable place to rest yourself while you wait.”

I’d rather eat the hindquarters of the nearest land mammal, Batiatus thought grimly, but he forced a smile for Xristo’s wife, knowing the senator would not take kindly to his rebuke--however colorfully worded-- of his wife.

“Gratitude,” Batiatus said, as though it hurt his teeth. “Some wine to wash dust from throat would be most welcome.”

Curiosity and dread filled Nasir as he nodded his head before disappearing to the kitchens to see fruit to Carissa with instruction to have it washed and sliced to be brought out to their eurs. Once done, he returned to side and bowed head. 

“It has come to my attention that you attracted some unwanted affections in the marketplace,” Batiatus said with little pretense. “A soldier who stands as guard there paid visit to inquire after your wellbeing.”

Her buisness had been slow that day, people wandering by and looking at the odd paintings of deities they didn’t know. Every once and awhile someone would ask the prices and say they would return, only to be talked out of the purchase by their more frugal counterparts.

“Oh! Yes, it is.” She perked up and smiled at the appreciation, smoothing her hands over the vibrantly colored fabric she adorned. 

“That’s one of my first attempts at renderings  of the common Gods here.” 

“Common Gods?” Batiatus repeated on a laugh. “Yes, well-- it is fine work.” He ran his thumb over the amphora.

“How much do you ask for it?”

“Aye sir,” Ygritte replied, and she was off likely to make a very uncomfortable situation for Jon. If necessary she could blame his father.

And then she laughed as if he’d made the most pleasant and amusing of jokes. Though secretly she would have slapped the man. Still, she kept the careful mask in place and took her own joy in knowing he suffered her company.

“I’ll not darken your door with my sacrifices, this I promise you, I fear you’d be no help at all in a woman’s pursuit to get with child.”

She let herself take a moment to breath.

“If he has the free time, he might come to us. Xristo might mentor the boy. We all chafe under our parent’s expectations. Perhaps he would flourish under different circumstances? And all the while still walking the path you wish.”

Batiatus’ head snapped up when the insufferable woman implied he could not father children. “I would remind you that I have fathered more children than you and your husband have managed,” he said crisply.

“I am seeking mentorship for Jon elsewhere at present, but thank you for your kind offer,” Batiatus spoke as though his teeth hurt to say the words. He would no sooner allow Xristo to mentor Jon than he would allow a snake into his bedchamber.
