Today we present intricate and rather surreal imagery from fairy tales involving cats by the noted French children’s book illustrator Adrienne Ségur from the 1956 Flammarion publication Le livre des bêtes enchantées (The Book of Enchanted Beasts) from our Historical Curriculum Collection. The book includes popular Russian and Japanese tales, as well as those by Anderson, the Grimm brothers, and the Countess of Ségur (apparently no relation to Adrienne Ségur).
