heyyy I turned the Beta Kids’ handwriting into useable fonts!

these are very basic 60 character fonts! I will probably expand these into full fonts with numbers and special characters later (need to buy font software first). I am aware @taehyunglesbian did this in like 2012, but their fonts are no longer available for download. @rubysapphrald also did this in 2021 with all the kids and some trolls (theirs is still available for download). I wanted to try my hand at it too! Fair warning: these are somewhat anachronistic since we don’t see all the necessary letters from every kid— hence my choice of the word “reconstruction.” I will be working on Alpha Kids’ handwriting next! I haven’t found a sample from Jane, however, so pls send one to me if you find :o

your ability to genuinely capture the essence of sbahj is insane. Are you sure you aren’t actually dave?

this is the highest compliment you could give me. i am but a humble scholar of sbahj. heres a tutorial for how i make these:

if youre making a comic make sure to be incredibly lazy. extremely minimal backgrounds, copy and paste/reuse your drawings. use lots of clip art

Hi! I also do the SBAHJ Style all the time and wanted to also offer some advice!

Hussie has actually shared his process on how he makes it look So Bad.

He uses Photoshop obviously, but if your program shows a preview of it you should be able to just do that same method. Screenshot the preview and copy and paste it.

If you really don’t want to do All That then just using a site like the one in the post works too. I just like doing it in a really tedious way because it can look very close to the actual thing.

Oh, other things I noticed after studying the style:

Mistakes stay in. Don’t go back and fix things!! If you do want to fix something though, make it super sloppy. It doesn’t need to look good its SbaHJ!!!

Use different brush sizes!!! There tends to be a mix of that but don’t go overboard

everyone always wonders what a mage is but it honestly couldn't be cut any clearer to me just by sollux alone. as the one person in the comic most fluent in a language that is centered entirely around doom as a construct, his ability to harness its effects is limited only by the fact that he largely doesn't give a shit. he literally programmed sgrub from the ground up by himself
