i think “expressing myself in a homosexual way” is my favorite gerardism
I was talking a bit last week about the potential for them to change things each show to progress the story, which did end up happening. I think it’s awesome that gerard saying ‘I mixed up my words last week’ at the start of the execution in san francisco made it clear that they’re embracing the fact that we’re watching streams and using that as a tool to tell their story. I also think it has interesting implications about gerard’s black parade character, as it shows a continuity in their memory between iterations of the timeloop. But it also cements us, the audience, as characters in the story too, in this cycle right alongside the band. They know the ‘audience’ is more than just the people they are directly in front of, they know the audience has seen this all before, they are the same people who saw them do this exact performance the last time they did it.
that killjoys hardcover intro btw is everything to me. it's everything. when i went crazy it was the only thing that made even a little sense. there were a few months there where i was reading it every day
this specifically is closer to my heart than i think anything else gerard way has ever written, music included
a ray toro guitar solo could wake me from the dead actually

Most horror films show your teenage years as this powerful time where all those possibilities enable you to fight against a threat from outside. I saw the TV glow does the exact opposite. It shows the emptiness, the endless existence of adolescents. Knowing that something is wrong, the need to change while being absolutely terrified of change. Growing up queer, autistic, depressed, trans and/or with strict parents, realising that you do not belong but a part of you tries to conform so fucking bad. This movie was able to show the horror of surviving instead of living.
