Tiger’s Curse (Tiger Saga)
I was planning on doing this by parts. That way, I can fully express all of the emotional turmoil that these books cause me. However, when I started the book I couldn’t put it down, even though it was my second time reading it. I ended up finishing it all. I didn’t really have time to write since I’m in the midst of finals for this semester, but I refuse to begin the next book in the series until I write this. So here I go.
You would think that the second time around I wouldn't get so excited when the moments between Ren and Kelsey happen. Uh, no. If anything, it made me even more excited for it. Since I know so much of the story already, going back to the beginning lets me see certain details that I missed my first time reading the book. Also, I’m already in love with the characters and it all just makes it all the better. Here are my thoughts on the characters.
Kelsey: While she is the heroine and protagonist in this story, I find her a little redundant. She keeps going around and around in her head about her feelings for Ren. However, that’s what makes her, to me, all the more relatable. In real life, it’s so easy to go back to the same thought process and situations over and over. I mean, just think about how that friend you have always seems to struggle with the same issue, over and over. I, myself, find myself doing this. It’s almost as if we’re trying to find a solution by looping it in our heads. Anyway, I find her relatable, in thought process and appearance as well. She’s described very modestly, almost average. I suppose she’s supposed to reflect us readers, so we can put ourselves in her situation. Well, whatever it is, it works really well with the story. I love her sense of sarcasm and cynicism, it adds to her personality and makes for a great heroine.
Dhiren: I understand he’s the protagonist’s (first) love interest, however, sometimes I feel he rubs me the wrong way. I don't know what it is. I love his self-esteem, kindness, thoughtfulness, protectiveness, and a whole other “nesses” out there. He can be very stubborn, but that also can be attractive in a way. Maybe it’s his sense of entitlement towards Kelsey. That might be it. I mean, I get the whole jealousy thing is hot, trust me. But there’s sometimes that it kind of leaves me cringing. Other than that, I love how his ethnicity made it feel very different than other love interests out there. He’s a definite catch.
Kishan: He’s introduced in a way that makes him seem selfish. With that whole story about Yesubai and his betrayal. However, I think he’s a great addition as a character and possible love interest. He definitely has room for a lot of growth that just leaves me looking forward to reading more with him in the story. He’s not this perfect guy, like Ren, and I feel like he’s more real world. Even though I know he’s supposed to be amazingly handsome and is also a prince. I feel he seems more approachable. Personally, I love the scenes where Kishan comes into the story. He’s not as stifling and intense as his brother.
Overall, I loved this book. I can’t wait to begin the next book. Hopefully this time I’ll be able to update in sections of the book. That way I can scream about the actual content of the book. Those will probably be much shorter than this huge post, thank god.
