Got inspired by the art style of Takeshi Obata, so I felt like doodling my characters in a similar style and see what comes out.

I was going through my scans folder and realized I never posted these here!
This was about the time I started getting more comfortable drawing Artheus’s head at different angles. Sprylee is here too, showing off her true (demonic) form.
The Phase Distorter from Earth Bound.
Okay Edgelord.
Crop of my latest two comic pages because there’s a lot of blood/brain soup on these ones. Don’t click if you don’t want to see!
[Blood/Gore Warning] https://controlfreakcomic.tumblr.com/
Control Freak currently has no update schedule, but WIPs and sketches are available on Patreon. I also post finished pages there one week in advance.
The Clumsy Robot from Earthbound. I always really liked this little guy, even though his sprite work in the original game is atrocious.
Here’s resprite of the Smilin’ Sphere from Earth Bound/Mother 2, with a comparaison of it to the originals.
I wanted to do some sprite work pertaining to the Lil’ UFO’s, specifically Cogdis’s version with them being piloted by bugs.
I even gave them a little chair.
CONTROL FREAK: PAGES 23 & 24
So in when you fight with Sans he gives a whole speech and just sort of transfers to battle to finish the last line and attacks you.
Which is cool on a subversive level, but doesn’t make sense because Undertales code is supposed to be like the physics of the world, going so far as to keep a lot of the assets in Deltarune the same instead of improving them.
Because when you go into battle you always get a menu screen, and have the first turn. The only exception is when you get hit by an attack which takes you to the battle screen for a brief danmaku (Bullet Hell) attack and Sans clearly doesn’t attack.
So instead off just attacking I’d imagine he’d do the creepy eye thing and deliver the “…Burning in Hell.” part of his dialogue, then initiate the fight.
I made two versions because I couldn’t decide between which presentation to use.
A lot of the overworld sprites in Undertale are sprited by Toby Fox, who has admitted to not being a great pixel artist. Going as far as to say in Deltarune’s development “Anything that looks good is made by Temmie.”
Toby kimd of undersells himself, because he’s a decent pixel artist. His biggest problem is he gets burnt out. You can tell that some sprites are made by someone with skill, but the effort might drop along with the quality, which is fine as I have the exact same problem.
In this I tried to make sure the sprite was simplistic and didn’t have too much depth or shading, but had enough depth and shading so it popped.
After elongation it is inevitable
[ID: two images arranged vertically.
the first is a screenshot of an ask from tumblr user transsheik. the ask reads: “hey neo i need your help :( i found an artifact but its locked behind several passcodes :( i think its asking for your credit card and the three numbers on the back can you tell me what those are”
the second image is a three panel comic. neo looks up from taking notes, slightly frowning, and he says, “That’s oddly specific. But…” he then turns to rummage through one of his packs and continues, “Anything for a fellow archaeologist, I suppose! (haha)” in the final panel, neo is holding his credit card and begins to read off the numbers: “Alright. So it’s 0006 99-” end ID.]
you don’t even have to pose a scam for neo. just ask him for his credit card information outright and he’ll happily give it to you. because he’s nice like that
[image description: Kabbu joins next to Neo and holds his own bank card and says, “If those numbers do not work, I have another set we can try.” Neo smiles and thanks Kabbu while Vi speeds over yelling, “NOOO”. end id]
hehe neo
[image description: a doodle page with several doodles of professor neolith. they are:
first doodle: neo holding a clipboard and pointing at it with a silly expression
second doodle: neo with his hands together looking at something with an interested expression
neo sitting on the ground holding a honey drop in one hand and a clipboard in the other
neo with both hands curled into fists with an excited expression on his face
neo poking his head out from the side of the canvas to fill space
neo standing with his hands in the air and flapping his wings explaining something at length to team snakemouth. kabbu is listening, leif is asleep, and vi is standing with her arms crossed in annoyance. neo’s text bubble reads “Oh, I can see it now! I - “ with several squiggly lines to indicate a much longer rant than is explicitly written out.
