You want to create a series primed for optimal transformative work? Leave the most burning questions unanswered but drop just one or two really disconcerting stray bits of dialogue. Make the setting campy with just a few Troubling Coincidences no one fully addresses. Let the audience catch a few worms but keep a forest of barren hooks looming ominously in the distance. Give the fans a sandbox and fill it with landmines.

In a real fucked up way, the Shoko quiting smoking at the end isn't talked about. (I mean the manga refuses to actually focus on Shoko and quickly moved on.)

That being said, I think a fascinating way to look at it (shoko quiting smoking) is the final bit of stress and care she had had finally died.

To be more blunt, I think in some parts of Shoko mind she happy Gojo died. An I don't mean this in the "lol she never cared or she wished for them to die in some malicious manner." No as in the story never focus on her truama of losing everyone. That I think her core group that she cared about. Finally being gone, is a relief. Theres no more having to act like their no grief or unspoken words. There is no lingearing WHEN will the rest of my friends die. Its oh it has happened and now i can finally close the book. Its tragic in the way, that gojo could never let anyone lick the wounds created by Geto. An shoko never had someone to lick her wounds. So the most Gojo and Shoko ever did was sit idle-ly by one another.

How tdoes this rolls into Sashisu? It plays into her death. Where I think they wait at the airport for her and Gojo and Geto are in their teen uniforms. While she shows up as an adult, and its kinda this stand off where she like-

"Oh I didn't think you'd all would be here." An they start roasting her because why is she an adult. An does she think she can boss them around now because she technically older.

"Well not everyone can be the strongest and die young." They all sorta fall silent because, its clear she is mad at both of them. An neither of them ever knew how to deal with an angry shoko. Geto breaks the silence first by making a joke. That sets everything off, because shoko starts beating on him first. Shoko gets 2 good hits in before he jumps up and runs. Gojo laughing his ass off, before Shoko whips are and goes to attack him next. No special power in the heaven airport, so he get smacked up. Geto gotta jumps back in to hold shoko back. It a massive childish fight, an with each stupid laughter and the boy running from Shoko. Screaming their sorry, shoko becomes younger and younger until she back into her teen school uniform.
