Living and cooking with light makes cooking enjoyable. Photographing beautiful kitchens with beautiful light makes for enjoyable photography. Roller ski session on Grossglockner

Grossglockner is the highest mountain in Austria. A roller ski session will depending on the start point take around 2h30 and is around 23 km long. I followed British Biathlete Gareth Griffin on his classic training session up the mountain. 

This was just his morning session in the afternoon he still had another two hour hard running session.

Wedding Photography in Chiemgau

A Bavarian weddings have their own traditions and are unique. I document weddings in Bavaria and this is a quick look at what a Bavarian wedding in Chiemgau looks like and some of the moments that I capture.

A Bavarian wedding the couple wakes up at 5 am through a loud cannon shot. (Böllerschießen) I am there to document the first blast. The cannon and pistol shots will only seize once the couple offer enough Schnapps to the waking up party. After this it is time for breakfast with beer and traditional Bavarian soup and white sausage.

While you are getting ready I will capture the detail in the dress of the bride and groom.

The first look when the groom sees his bride for the first time.

I want to stay unnoticed and remain in the background as much as possible, this is an image of a bride seen through the review mirror of the car.

I avoid the kitsch and overdone wedding portraits, your portraits are posed but at the same time they are not posed.

Things do not always go to plan and it is my job as a wedding photojournalist to document these moments. Here the wedding car did not want to play with and needed a helping hand.

Again during your wedding church ceremony I will stay in the background and capture the highlights with as little intrusion as possible. 

Your first dance! 

During your wedding day when things are rushed and you are chatting with your guest and dancing away you do not always have time to appreciate the small details. I will document these so that can remember them.

Party! It is time to dance your socks off! This is your day.

Once the blisters have heeled from dancing all night then you can relax on the sofa and page through your wedding magazine that has been especially created for you. It will have all your moments documented in over 130 pages so that you can appreciate it for a life time.

After you get married you will hopefully have three things. 

Each other

Memories

and photos.

Unique photography photoshoot for fitness center - Environmental gym photography

‘let us go train at Be Fit and get fit’... 

In July I was asked to photograph a series of images for a gym in Traunstein to promote their fitness studio. The photographs will be used both for print marketing and for web use. This is a brief overview of the requirements for the photoshoot and the thinking behind the photos. 

The aim of the photographing the gym in Traunstein was to show the inside of the gym, what the gym looks like and at the same time have some unique photos that are specific to the Be Fit fitness studio in Traunstein to attract visitors. By positioning the flashes behind the subjects I was able to photograph some dramatic environmental portraits.

In the first photograph the client wanted to have the sun bed in the picture, the athletes were positioned to make the image interesting. Three flashes were used in this photograph. One at the window as a backlight, one to the right as a main light to highlight the athlete coming out of the sun bed room. A third light in the sun bed room to highlight the sun bed.

For each photograph it took about 10 minutes to set up the lighting and rearrange the sports equipment so that it will work with the photograph.

As the gym photoshoot came to an end the client showed me an image of an athlete running up stairs and asked if I could replicate the image for him.  The photograph of the athlete running up the stairs was created using a single flash unit with the subject lit from the left hand side. The stair case was a lot narrower than shown above. In post processing using Affinity Photo I was able to clone out the wall and replace the wall with the stairs extending to where the wall would have been.

Wedding Pictorial Magazine - Created for couples, instead of a album they receive a wedding magazine.

The magazine is created with InDesign and then sent of to the printers. This is a soft cover magazine with a high quality paper feel. The magazine is so intended that several copies can be made and give to parents.
