Unique photography photoshoot for fitness center - Environmental gym photography
‘let us go train at Be Fit and get fit’...
In July I was asked to photograph a series of images for a gym in Traunstein to promote their fitness studio. The photographs will be used both for print marketing and for web use. This is a brief overview of the requirements for the photoshoot and the thinking behind the photos.
The aim of the photographing the gym in Traunstein was to show the inside of the gym, what the gym looks like and at the same time have some unique photos that are specific to the Be Fit fitness studio in Traunstein to attract visitors. By positioning the flashes behind the subjects I was able to photograph some dramatic environmental portraits.
In the first photograph the client wanted to have the sun bed in the picture, the athletes were positioned to make the image interesting. Three flashes were used in this photograph. One at the window as a backlight, one to the right as a main light to highlight the athlete coming out of the sun bed room. A third light in the sun bed room to highlight the sun bed.
For each photograph it took about 10 minutes to set up the lighting and rearrange the sports equipment so that it will work with the photograph.
As the gym photoshoot came to an end the client showed me an image of an athlete running up stairs and asked if I could replicate the image for him. The photograph of the athlete running up the stairs was created using a single flash unit with the subject lit from the left hand side. The stair case was a lot narrower than shown above. In post processing using Affinity Photo I was able to clone out the wall and replace the wall with the stairs extending to where the wall would have been.
