that means that if you are writing a PHM x Iron Lung crossover, TAG BOTH FANDOMS. If you're writing a PHM x Fall Guy crossover, TAG BOTH FANDOMS. ETC ETC ETC

im to the point where i cant even scroll the PHM tags on ao3 without coming across improperly tagged crossover fics. I dont want to see bloodymary or whatever that crackship is with actor dude from falling guy and grace. That means when I exclude those ships and those fandoms, I dont want them popping up anyway because you dont understand how the tagging system works

If you genuinely don't know how to tag, ASK FOR HELP. There are plenty of how-tos on tumblr and google and whatever. Ao3 works using a tagging system. If youre not gonna bother using it, then post your stuff somewhere else

This isnt just a PHM crossover issue but ive noticed it frequently lately. Idk if its because theres an influx of brand new ao3 users or what, but please. I beg of you. Either tag correctly or ask for help with it. Im here to read PHM fics, not crackships with Tom ryder (which is a ship i genuinely just. dont like. at all) or romantic bloodymary. or anything else. if youre writing a fic where there is crossover between the fandoms, tag both fandoms. Properly. instead of only tagging PHM and then adding the characters from the other fandom.

I literally hit excluding tag limits because of shit like this. Ive done it several times, especially for fandoms like phm where theres 3 different tags for the same fandom (book phm, movie phm, and all media types phm). i have to exclude so many character tags, relationship tags, fandom tags, and regular tags that ao3 stops me and tells me ive got too many selected.

If you want help learning how to tag your fic, im happy to offer advice. Other people would probably help too! My point is not to shame new fic authors who dont know how ao3 works. My point is that you need to tag properly.

Also: im not talking about stuff like dead dove or chose not to use archive warnings. Im talking just tagging crossovers as crossovers instead of single-fandom fics.
