Before it was ‘Sister GoldenHair Surprise’ my thesis went by a few different titles, the original name being ‘Homing in’. When I set out to pursue my MFA I was doing it as means of escape from the toxic habits I believed only stemmed from living in dead industrial areas such as my own in Upstate New York. I knew that deciding to return meant putting everything I had worked so hard to accomplish at risk (using the words ‘death sentence’ when people around me asked what I was doing back home). At first I spent as much time as I could hiding out at my sister’s in the Sacandaga Valley.. Here is a nice photo of me on my car taken by the lovely @analog_hunter during a portrait workshop we attended this past summer. This photo makes me laugh because I specifically asked for it unaware that the car would die a couple weeks later thus inspiring the attached text. I just wanted to publicly thank my Messica for listening to the inner workings of my brain whenever I need her to.. Also I am truly beside myself to announce that in a few months my broken camera and I will be leaving the Gilmore Girls behind to study under some incredible people in Ithaca College's new Image Text MFA program.. It's already been quite the trip, and I can't wait to see what happens next
