Learning Roadmaps - 6 Week Update
Learning Roadmaps - 6 Week Update #learningroadmaps #edutalk
Well, I have used my learning roadmaps for a full six weeks now and here are some results.
My lowest student grade was a 74, so I had every student passing at the end of a six week grading period.
Biggest struggles so far has been keeping some students self-motivated to learn.
Flexible lesson planning allows for students to pick a choose their path towards understanding physics.

First Week Back - Unit Roadmaps
This is my new spin on student-driven learning - Unit Roadmaps #eduroadmaps #edchat
I was very nervous to get started this year as I am stepping out of my comfort zone with my class dynamics this year. I am putting my own spin on the flipped classroom mentally and setting up my students to become very independent learners in the process. I discovered last year that just switching from in-class lectures to video lectures was not enough to keep the average student engaged in the…

Writing Prompts with Attitude #edchat #writingprompts
After seeing how many people enjoyed my last English post, I thought I better share another.
This website was brought to me during a recent Gifted and Talent Professional Development seminar. The site actually is a well maintained Tumblr page that posts engaging writing prompts that get the student’s creative juice flowing. Here is an example of one of their posts cover the Great Gatsby:

How to Build an Adjustable Stand Up Workbench
How to Build an Adjustable Stand Up Workbench. #diywood #edtalks #diy
Let us take a step back from our normal day of teaching and think about what kind of activity our students are doing throughout the school day. Sitting. Almost one hour classes and the within normal classes, the students are stationary.
Students sit all day, and sitting is exhausting.
Let’s change that with standing desks. Standing desks are really just regular desks, except that they have…

My experience with flipping a classroom has been a roller coaster for sure. I want to share my personal experience with flipping a classroom.
As a teacher, I am always on the lookout for new and exciting websites that allow me to interact with my students on a new level. What I have found recently was Chalkup.co, an interactive website for teachers to host whole classrooms discussions, assignments, and more. “CHALKUP GIVES TEACHERS THE POWER TO CREATE AN …
Some of the most dreaded words coming from the mouths of students today is, “Will this be for a grade?” Stab me in the heart now. Take the wind from my sails. How can I get my students to have a desire to learn? I could just as simply blame it on the lazy generation of …
