I heard some bad news on the Golf... Feels like it's the end of an era. People chose bigger, non practical, weird looking, non rational SUV's and the epitome of function over form in car design is no longer a best seller. That's sad and tells a lot about our day and age.
Nonetheless, I've always been fond of the Golf. Maybe it's the aura of a Giugiaro design, maybe it's the simplicity of its lines or maybe I just like little boxes. It's true, newer generations have lost that mojo. Mk5 is dull, mk6 is blobby, mk7 was pretty interesting on the other hand. Mk8... well, let's not talk about it. Yes, I like the boxier ones. More boxy, more better!!! So, with that in mind, I just doodled something more faithful to it's boxy giugiaresque origins. And that's all.
and suddenly i'm thelma and i'm louise too!
It's back home!!!
Well... The iconic GOL, that's grown fond for most of the brazilians, is now retiring. After 42 years of presence in our streets and lives, it will no longer be there. A Brazilian local design that took the place of the Beetle, known here as FUSCA, Gol fulfilled the role of family car for many brazilians. Since 1980, the car had 3 generations, with several facelifts. My sketch could fit as something that could've existed in the first half of the 90's, perhaps.
Anyway... here's my tribute to the Gol. Travel well boy, you've done your job! Cheers.
I miss you 🤌🤌🤌
