"Somehow I am as unsurprised as I am unimpressed."
"And I do not care at all."
"Speaking ill of the dead. How unorthodox of you."
"I was never a very good Catholic. Always drank all the wine at mass."
"Reasonable enough, though acting on impulse is never a good idea. You ought to control your anger better than that."
"You’re creepy, and I do hope that was meant as an ill-timed joke. Parading your violent behaviour is just amateur. Especially during a time like this. Perhaps this was what got you interrogated in the first place."
"..." a Blank stare. She then smirked and rolled her eyes. "What got me interrogated were my flat out threats to her. I hated the bitch." Maria was anything but discreet.
She liked being able to trick people into thinking she was this psychotic brute. Far more intelligent than that, she'd lash out, behave how she wanted to in public, unless Alessia warned her otherwise. An act was an act, and she was ever-so brilliant at it. Plus, she loved to see people's horrified expressions, and Archie's had already made her evening.
“Deserves night in cell because of said ‘headbutting’. If you are innocent, I can hardly see how aggression towards an officer is the solution.”
"Look at you. A little detective. Oh. You caught me. I did it." She smirked, sarcasm oozing from off her tongue. "He was being a mysogenistic pig and was asking all the wrong questions. He didn't want me there because I may or may not have stabbed Blondie to death. He wanted me there to be a dick. Furthermore, I'm insulted. The way she went out...so sloppy. Definitely not my handy work. I'm far more...creative and...clean." She was almost too happy with her last response.
"Former police officer gets questioned for bullshit murder...spends night in cell for headbutting the investigator....the half of the story you don't hear."
I thought I smelt smoke but then I realized it was all in my head. Some things will never get old.
"Indeed."
@Hospital {Doctors, wanders, friends}
What do you mean twenty hours isn’t long enough of a stay.
"Because you look like shit. Now, where does it hurt?"
Different day, same boring shit.
"If you think life is bad now, how would you like to be an egg? Think about it. You only get laid once. You get eaten once. It takes 4 minutes to get hard, only 2 minutes to get soft. You share your box with 11 other guys, but worst of all, the only chick that ever sat on your face was your mom."
"I asked if you wanted the pink or green umbrella. Not that I understand why they’re putting umbrellas in fucking shot glasses, but they did, so I asked. I asked to be nice. One sentence. One. Are you being sarcastic right now? Is this your idea of making new friends? Sure you can throw darts at me, but I’ll stab you in the eye with a cocktaIl umbrella and this time I wont ask which colour you prefer."
Maria scoffed, tuning out after the first mention of a colored umbrella. She couldn't help but laugh, dead-set in the woman's face. She wanted to mock her but she refrained. "Hey, Barbie. Do I look like I give a shit?" She smirked, with a shake of her head. Completely ignoring the mention of making friends, something she truly didn't care about, she continued on, holding up her palm to get the girl to shut her fucking trap. "Secondly, your petite little wrist wouldn't make it past that designer glass without being sliced off if you so much as attempted to lunge at me with that dainty little tooth pick. Thirdly, if you even dream about it, you better wake up and say you are sorry...then again, even by then it'd be too late because I would've already slit your throat in your sleep." Her humor was morbid as usual. She downed yet another shot shaking her head. "Now who wants to play darts?" She shouted, loud enough for the people behind her to hear.
"I was really into the last part of that argument. Can I give it a shot, I have great aim usually. Guys are boobs."
"Ah. Now we're talking. By all means. I'll even buy you your next drink if you can nick his ear lobe." By this point of course, the man was practically shaking in his boots not truly comprehending the situation at hand and Maria was highly, all too highly, amused.
"Rude." he said hard enough so she could hear it. Richard was sitting at the bar and saw this conversation unfold. The guy was trying to make impression on her at she could at least give him a compliment for his effort. The women these days.
She grit her teeth, absolutely seething. She abhorred people who thought they had any right to cut into a perfectly good conversation, especially when she was having fun scaring the shit out of them. "That was your cue to leave." She addressed the man who'd hit on her before bestowing the on-looker with the faintest bit of attention before taking up her two shots of tequila and downing them both. "You mistake me, for someone who gives a shit." She quipped without looking at him, but rather leaving her eyes upon the television screen playing some basketball game. Ugh. Men these days.
~Private: Flashback to waaayy back when!~
Nate didn’t trust Maria as far as he could throw her yet here he was standing in an alley way letting her words get to him. Because no matter what he tried to say, the young women was right. Maxim Dmitriev had won, Lieutenant Hardy had won. Nate watched her it took a moment for him to figure out what she was doing but soon enough it began to click and his eyes widened.
“Are you fucking kidding me.” Nate said allowed “What-” It was too late the car was ablaze, and now it was just the two of them standing in the alley along with the crackling and poppin’ of the fire as it grew larger.
“You’re fucking crazy you know that!” Nate stared at the fire before him before turning back to Maria, before point at the fire “How the hell am I supposed to put that out, with my looks?” He shook his head running his hand over his face he stood there a lump in his throat. His breathing grew heavy as he stood by the fire, its warmth beating on his face. Nate clenched his jaw his fist following the action as she spoke, he could hear his heart beat in his eyes as he took a step forward. His palms sweating but not from the flames, from the thoughts inside his head that growled louder than any fire could.
Nate swallowed hard and looked over at her, he took a step forward but froze. He was phyically stuck, Nate’s knees buckled and he gasped for air it was as if he were trapped in his basement again, tripping on heroin and losing Lisa all at the same time. A cry escaped his lips and he doubled over hands on his knees, Nate shook his head “I… I can’t. I can’t I’m not the man I used to be. I can’t fucking do it. I’m fucking stuck. They fucking won, okay. They fucking won.” Tears welled up in the firefighters eyes as he starred at the ground.
This fire was child's play to Maria. She knew she could've done a lot worse with far less the effort, but this whole scenario was to make a point, and a point that ought to made for his sanity alone. Maria didn't take to caring for many people. In fact, most in her book could rot in a fiery cave of Hell for all she honestly cared. But she had instantly recognized something within this poor fellow, something that reflected directly in herself. "You're fucking crazy, you know that?" As the words struck her ears she angrily leered at him. Crazy, the word stung like a shot gun to the head. She felt she might explode there and then, her face beaming red hot as she grit her teeth. "I am not fucking crazy! I'm realistic!" She rebutted. "If you don't buck the fuck up and do your job, Zampella! Someone is going to end up dead, and that someone could be you! Your ridiculous fear of what you spent your life fighting...it's incomprehensible. Unforgivable! You are better than this. Now suck it up, and put out the fire!" She demanded. She knew it may cause him to hit his limit, but that was the point. If he hit rock bottom there was nowhere else for him to go but up, and that was all she desired. She stood there, brows raised expectantly at him, arms at her sides, clearly reaping judgement upon him.
"Hey! So...you're talking waaaaaaayyyy too much, and I'm bored. So, I have an idea. We'll call it a compromise. You shut the fuck up, and move back and forth, you know side-to-side, and I'll throw darts at your head."
"You’re so cute. Sooooooo cute!”
"Oh. Little J. Didn't anyone ever tell you? Little furry creatures and psychopaths don't mix."
"Maybe so, but when you play the stock market it’s a bit of both worlds."
"Lady, does it look like I belong on Wall Street?"
"Everyone says money isn’t happiness, but it’s a big factor into it. I’ve just recognized that fact while most try to deny it."
"Yeaaahhhh but see, taking something just feels so much better than purchasing it."
"Money, one of the best things there is to make a girl happy"
"See, I'd be fine with a slice of pizza, or a bottle of wine, or hell a six pack of beer. Or sex. I could always go for great, mind-blowing sex. Money is easy to obtain or find. But, a good lay, on the other hand? Now that takes some hunting."
