Hmm, your question is very interesting, anon.
Honestly, I didn`t read other Anne Rice`s books, except The Vampire chronicles, so I can`t tell you if they are good and worth reading. But I think the fact that I created this page here, on tumblr, shows that I appreciate and admire her work. There are several reasons why these books got me:
-dark and mysterious atmosphere
-attractive and really complicated characters (this is true that Anne didn`t create interesting female characters, (except Claudia, I suppose) but there are not a lot of them)
-rich language and picturesque descriptions
But at the same time I feel that some characters tend to “deteriorate” (like Lestat and Marius) and Anne is interested mostly in getting money from the series and doesn`t care much about the whole story. And all these “ancient” vampires! The crowds of them appear in the recent books but the thing is that they are mainly not interesting and you don`t care about their stories.
I have to say that I read all the VC books not in English and I skipped Pandora and Vittorio and still waiting for the translation of PLatRoA and Blood communion (although I know the plot and post some quotes from there sometimes).
