Hillary Clinton won the first debate and it wasn’t even close
That sound you hear is the entire Democratic Party exhaling. Hillary Clinton commanded the first debate by letting Trump shoot himself in the foot over and over again, keeping her cool as he repeatedly interrupted her and continued to lie about his past positions. A representative exchange came about midway through the debate, when Clinton turned to Trump’s history as a businessman.
Donald Trump’s sexism was the most revealing part of the first debate
Monday’s debate hit a lot of issues, but it was Trump’s sexism that left perhaps the most indelible mark, as the Republican patronized, interrupted and demeaned Clinton — and other women — throughout the 90 minutes. Clinton received cheers from the audience with her response to Trump’s above comment about “stamina.”

Who is Alicia Machado? The woman Trump called Miss Piggy
During Monday night’s debate between, Clinton took a swing at Trump’s past comments about women — particularly, his derogatory remarks toward former beauty pageant queen Alicia Machado.
“One of the worst things he said was about a woman in a beauty contest,” Clinton said. “He loves beauty contests, supporting them and hanging around them. And he called this woman ‘Miss Piggy’ — then he called her ‘Miss Housekeeping,’ because she was Latina. Alicia Machado, Donald — she has a name.”
In an interview with Inside Edition in May, Machado said when she was 19, Trump bullied her “all the time,” mocking her weight and calling her “Miss Piggy.” According to Inside Edition, Trump basically corroborated her story at the time.
Update: Trump just doubled down on his sexist bullying of Alicia Machado. The Republican nominee spoke to Fox & Friends Tuesday morning about Machado and his experience with her.
Trump called her “the absolute worst” and blamed it on her body in the most overt, sexist way possible
