I think I’m caught up with replies, if I have missed you please let me know. I realise I have been away for quite some time but now things have calmed down I should be able to start back into regular replies
"Hey, I know I haven't been in here before but Minnie won't get off my ass, so here I am. I can't sleep."
Maria smiled, “Well come and sit down.” she said moving to sit down herself. To be honest she hadn’t expected to see The Tony Stark in her little exam room, “When did it start?”
“Afghanistan, 2008.” He replied as he sat down across from her desk. “I don’t think I’ve had a truly honest good nights sleep since the whole, being kidnapped and tortured in a cave thing.”
Maria nodded, “that’s perfectly understandable, high stress situations like that can chip away at a person. And if i remember rightly you’ve had hard times like that a lot since becoming Iron Man.” she smiled softly, “You almost died saving New York from not only Loki but our own people, its a lot of one person to shoulder alone.” Maria knew she wasn’t a shrink but was beginning to realise that the people in the Tower needed someone they could talk to without worrying about what would happen.
“If you want to tell me about what happens when you actually try to go to sleep. Nightmares? Trouble actually falling to sleep or quieting your mind at night.” she wasn’t sure she wanted to advise Iron Man to start taking sleeping pills if talking could help it.
Maria smiled, “Normal is a relative term. If you wanted to reverse what was done to you, you could go to college get a degree an average job. But these are things you could do even with your powers.”
“You have abilities that allow you to help people and people that want to help you. Now everyone will be there for you no matter what you choose.” She hoped that Wanda knew that she had a place with or without her powers. It was hard, she could see it, how does someone so young deal with the fact that they were experimented on, given powers and then handed responsiblities that someone their age should never have to deal with.
“You have a lot to deal with for someone your age, its unfair to think you wouldn’t want a normal life. But, do you think you’d be happy knowing what was out their and giving up your ability to change it?” she hadn’t wanted to upset the girl even more but she had to know what she would be giving up.
“I’m sorry I’m might to be helping I don’t mean to make it harder for you.”
Wanda nodded, listening intently. After Maria finished she sat in silence, her hands in her lap. After a while she looked up.
“Thank you.” she said, “I… I think I needed to hear that.”
Wanda smiled, “I didn’t choose this, I think in the aftermath of it all I’ve just been wondering about what I lost in the process. How do you deal with -” she waved her hand in the air, “-all of this? I don’t think anyone can say it’s easy…”
“No it isn’t easy, but I think your a very strong woman and I think this will just get easier for you.” she smiled, “you never forget what you lost, but it has to be the thing that motivates you to do better. To try harder.” there was a sadness in Maria’s countenance that hadn’t been there before as memories of her own family came back to her, when she realised she forced the smile back onto her face.
“It is how we deal with our loses and the bad times that determines how good the ‘good times’ will be.”
Wanda watched Maria as the woman spoke, grateful for the Nurse’s time and advice. She noticed a flash of sadness in the woman’s eyes. It seemed that everyone in S.H.I.E.L.D. had their scars, even if they weren’t visible.
“Steve said something similar to me,” she said softly, “What… what motivates you to do better? Your family? Your job?”
Maria gave a sad smile as she reached over into a drawer, her hand slipped inside and took hold of a small framed picture. She pulled it out and held it out to Wanda.
“My mother is my motivation, my first loss. My whole family is gone now, but I keep going because its what they would want from me.”
Wanda took the picture. There was a kind looking woman with the same eyes as Maria staring back at her. She looked like the kind of lady that could even calm the Hulk. She gently handed the picture back.
“I’m sorry,” she said softly, wanting to pull Maria into a hug, “You don’t even have any brothers on sisters?”
She thought of Pietro and how bereft she would be if he was taken from her; she hoped beyond hope that Maria hadn’t gone through that kind of loss.
“No, no brothers or sisters. Just me.” Maria smiled, “You’re lucky to have that. To have someone that has been with you through everything, that understands you and your struggles.” Marua sometimes wondered what might have been had she had someone else to look out for back then. It never lasted long, what was done was done.
She took one last look at the photograph before banishing the image back into her desk drawer.
“There’s a lot of fear there, though.” Wanda said. She was afraid to lost Pietro, as much as she knew he could handle himself, this wasn’t a game.”
“Well don’t worry.” said Wanda, placing a hand on the nurse’s arm, “I’ll have your back. If there’s anything at all I can do to help, just let me know… even if it’s just someone to go to dinner with.”
Maria smiled, actually smiled all the way to her eyes, “Well thanks, its nice to know your not going to be on your own.” she’d always kept to herself mostly, it was easier that way. She moved around a lot and as an Army Nurse the chances of your friends coming back in a bag, or not at all was very high. She hadn’t really come across many people that understood that.
“And don’t worry fear just lets you realise how much you’ve got, and how much your willing to do to keep it.”
Maria smiled, “Normal is a relative term. If you wanted to reverse what was done to you, you could go to college get a degree an average job. But these are things you could do even with your powers.”

Breakfast (Open Starter)
Maria was sure her heart had escaped her chest and found a new home in her throat. She spun round with a spatula raised in her hand and her eyes wide. When she saw a woman stood in front of her a nervous laugh escaped and she lowered her arm. “Y-you scared me.” she stuttered out, Maria reached over and turned the music down, “I’m sorry I’m Maria, is the music too loud?” she asked with a small smile, “I was making breakfast.” she said as she motioned to the piles of food with a wide wave of her spatula.
Annie chuckled lightly as the woman was obviously startled, a little pleased that she was still sneaky enough to be soundless when she was sleepily walking down a hallway. “Well it makes calling SHIELD stations a little hard.” Annie nodded honestly before her eyes landed on the coffee pot. “I’m Annie- er- Director Bradley. Of SHIELD.” she introduced herself.
Annie moved across the kitchen and grabbed a coffee pt from the shelf before touching the coffee pot. “Is this fresh?” she asked before pulling the pot off of the warm plate and pouring a cup before she took a tentative sip, unable to wait for the woman’s reply.
“Everythings fresh,” she said with a smile as she gestured to the growing mass of food. She quickly leant over and turned the music right down. She had gone out that morning to get ingrediants and had somehow managed to create enough food to feed an army, she laughed to herself at how fitting that might actually be. “I didn’t realise how early it actually was,” she muttered more to herself as she checked her watch.
Maria smiled, “Normal is a relative term. If you wanted to reverse what was done to you, you could go to college get a degree an average job. But these are things you could do even with your powers.”

“I love pool parties!”
Maria moved to sit by the side of the pool, it was as close to the water as she wanted to get for now, “What isn’t to like.” she said with a smile. The girls excitement was contagious.
To the Pool
Maria stepped out onto the rooftop seeing everyone in and around the pool enjoying themselves. She skirted around the edge of the group and found a place to sit in the shade. She lay back and closed her eyes just enjoying being outside and relaxed for once.
There was a cough and Maria’s right eye popped open, “Hello.”
Breakfast (Open Starter)
Breakfast, the most important meal of the day. That was what Maria believed and she had never been proven wrong so far, a good breakfast set you up for a good day. This was the reason she found herself stood in the rather large kitchen cooking up a storm, she loved cooking, there were pancakes and bacon, scrambled eggs. She had really got carried away after she came back from shopping. She had wanted to avoid using anyone else’s food, the nurse was still getting used to being part of such a large but close knit team.
She turned the music up and sang, badly, to the music as she danced around the kitchen preparing breakfast.
Annie was exhausted, she had been up late the night before and had an early morning to call a few agents she knew scattered across the country to see if she could get them to come in and help her rebuild another chapter of SHIELD. She needed coffee and desperately. And there was some loud music coming from the kitchen making her groan softly.
Standing in the kitchen she raised an eyebrow at the woman who was dancing about and singing while she cooked. Finally clearing her throat she waited for an acknowledgement, not wanting to scare her but wanting her to be aware that there was someone else in the kitchen.
Wanda nodded gratefully and this kind woman who was kind of her, even though she felt she had done very little to earn it.
“Thank you Maria.” she said. “I’ve never had this kind of medication before… it won’t hurt my abilities, will it?”
Maria pursed her lips, “It shouldn’t, there should be very little side effects. However I’ll want to check on you every so often as I have never used this medication in line with someone with your abilities.” She wanted to make sure she Wanda knew what she would be getting into, though typically the medication had no side effects you could never be too careful. “If anything comes up, even if it doesn’t seem like its important let me know.”
She looked at her hands, and she decided to tell Maria something that had been weighing heavy on her mind since she had arrived. “I was told the process from HYDRA might be reversible… to make me and my brother normal again. But I don’t know how I feel about that. I don’t know if I want to go back to normal, or what I’d do…”
Maria smiled, “Normal is a relative term. If you wanted to reverse what was done to you, you could go to college get a degree an average job. But these are things you could do even with your powers.”

Wanda nodded; it wasn’t like she was new to trying new substances.
“That sounds good,” she said, “Perhaps…”
She didn’t like asking people for things - even asking Pietro for help sometimes made her feel a tad weak. But Wanda also knew what was good for her, and when she might have to buck her pride in order to make herself the best she could be.
“Would I be able to just… come and talk to you? About anything, really - how your paperwork on the experiments is going, what I can remember… how things feel in my head?” she trailed off.
Maria smiled softly at the girl, “You can come to me at anytime, night or day. I will always be here to help.” She hated seeing people like Wanda stuck with something they weren’t able to handle alone so she offered her help where ever she could.
“I understand how hard it must be for you and I think it is important to know you have support from those around you.”
Wanda nodded gratefully and this kind woman who was kind of her, even though she felt she had done very little to earn it.

Carry On Nurse ;) (Open Starter)
Maria laughed softly, “No I don’t have any children,” she replied as she watched Reagan wander around the room, “but you must be happy to have other children to play with now?” Playing on your own can get quite boring.” she added.
Reagan nodded when she said that playing by herself could get lonely. “Yeah, but my momma says I may become a sister someday. But for now I have Cooper and Lila to play with.. And Nate exceppt he’s little so we just sorta play around him.”
“Well I think you’d be a brilliant big sister. I would have loved one when I was growing up.” Maria went to a large cupboard in her office and opened the door, she used to have children coming in with their parents all the time in her last job and she had accumulated a large collection of toys and games.
“You can come and borrow these when ever you like,” she said with a smile as she moved aside to allow Reagan access to them.
Maria leant forward and placed her hands on the girls arm and gave her a motherly smile, “Perhaps I could do some research into these kind of experiments. I’m sure there must be some collected paper work.” She wanted to help the poor girl, no one should have to deal with this kind of pain. “I will do whatever I can. When I find something I will let you know. For now maybe some kind of sleeping pill so you can get peace at night at least. Or anti anxiety medication?” She wondered out loud to herself, “something with as few side effects as possible.” She turned to Wanda, “Would you be willing to try something like that?”
Wanda nodded; it wasn’t like she was new to trying new substances.

Exploratory Surgery (Open Starter)
The redhead sitting inside the door nearly jumped out of her skin. She’d been engrossed in a book and had left the door open out of habit since things had been so quiet this week at the tower.
The book went flying and she jumped up. “Oh. HI! Sorry… you scared me…”
It returned to her hand before she realized what she was doing. Setting it gently down on the stand, she gave a goofy smile to the woman standing in the doorway, pretending that didn’t happen.
“Neighbors? Wow, you must be another new person. Someone is newer than me now. That’s… fabulous. Where’s my manners, I’m Samantha. Hi. I just said that, didn’t I? This is my room and I talk way too much…”
Maria stepped back from the door a little, she probably should have knocked louder, she was always forgetting things like that. She hadn’t spent a lot of time in buildings like the tower. Most of the places she worked and lived were all openbuildings. “I am so sorry for scaring you. I’ve been walking around and thought I’d see who was near by.” Maria stepped a little further from the door, “I’m Maria I really am sorry.”
“That’s ok. Who needs a functioning heart, right?” The redhead chuckled. “Oh another Maria-well at least that name will be easy to remember since we already have one. It’s nice to meet you. I’m sorry if I come off as a weirdo, social things aren’t exactly my strong point.“
She points to the mini fridge, trying to be welcoming. “I have fresca and wine if you’d like either. Or water. And if you really want I can probably scare up something to eat.”
Maria laughed lightly as she stepped inside the room, she looked around taking in the decor of the room. “Water is fine thank you.” she said with a smile, “I just wanted to introduce myself. Its the first time I have had to start a new job in a very long time.” Maria’s face was bright and open as she took a seat across from the red head.
