Sigrid Sophia Agatha von Giese in real life, Paraluman was born on Dec. 14, 1923, to a German father and a Filipino mother. Active during the 1940s to the 1970s.

At her prime, Paraluman (Tagalog for goddess) was considered the Philippines’ answer to Greta Garbo because of her “perfect bone structure, svelte figure, long brown hair, hypnotic eyes, an impenetrable gaze and an expressive face capable of registering any emotion.”

She then starred in more than 70 films. She was nominated four times by the FAMAS, twice in 1959 for Best Actress for the Sampaguita movies Bobby and Anino ni Bathala, in 1972 for Best Supporting Actress for Lilet and in 1976 also for Best Supporting Actress for Mister Mo, Lover Boy Ko. She retired in 1985 after doing Kailan Sasabihing Mahal Kita.[x]

Ngayon ko lang nalaman na ang mukhang ito ay si Paraluman. Sa 19 yrs ko na existence dito sa mundo akala ko’y kathang isip lang si Paraluman na naisipan lang ilagay ng bandang Eraserheads sa isa sa kanilang mga sikat na kanta ang Huling El Bimbo, “Kamukha mo si Paraluman, nung tayo ay bata pa…”

Ang kanyang buong pangalan ay Sigrid Sophia Agatha von Giese at isa pala siyang sikat na actress noong kasikatan din ni FPJ na mdalas rin niyang katambla sa pelikula.

Sigrid Sophia Agatha von Giese, better known as Paraluman, was a FAMAS-award winning Filipino actress active from the 1940s to the 1970s. She was a contemporary of the likes of Fernando Poe, Sr. and Marlene Daudén and was a major contract star of Sampaguita Pictures.
