Day 39 of my daily drawing challenge: Hi friends! So happy to be back to the daily drawing with a simple and colourful lil’ still life. 🍶 After the intensity of packing down my studio, selling everything and moving, it’s lovely to settle into my new working space. I still have a lot of sorting and downsizing to do, but it feels really good to get a fresh start. After almost 2 years, I’m closing my studio and I’m throwing a party to celebrate the conclusion of this beautiful project with friends and folks in Barcelona. Day 30 of my daily drawing challenge: Funky Totems 🧱when I was doing ceramics every day I wanted to handbuild structures like these, but the nature of ceramics warping in the kiln (and my limited glazing skills) made it difficult to realise. Now I get to have fun bringing these ideas to life with 3D 🤩 This is the last day of #30daysofdrawingcolour! Hard to believe it — the benefits that working every day on this challenge has brought are almost too many to count. You will know by now that this was about so much more than having new ideas. I’ve been healing my relationship with perfectionism and procrastination, inviting play into my life, definitely having new ideas about work but also about life, and generally just getting out of my own way. So many people have been reaching out to say how much they have enjoyed seeing these colourful illustrations brighten their feed and support my many explorations. After my burnout I grappled with dark thoughts of ‘my career is over’, but this process has reminded me that I’m only just beginning. Life is about to get incredibly busy for the next few weeks, but I commit to showing up to draw everyday for another 30 days.
