Backstory: Marisol was born December of 1501 in provincial France. She was raised alongside her brother Beaumont and had a fairly idillc childhood, as carefree as you could get during those times. From a young age Marisol. then named Marie, was taught the various skills expected of her as a woman in french society including cooking, spinning thread, and sewing. Marisol always had a natural talent for sewing and, after the tragic death of her fiance in a house fire when they were nineteen, turned to taking commission sewing work so she could eventually live independently.

When their family was attacked by vampires Marisol and Beaumont initially escaped, but Beau went back to try and rescue their parents and, after waiting for nearly two days for him in the woods, had to face the reality that he was most likely dead. She spent the next year working for a dress maker in town who gave her room and board in return for working as her assistant/apprentice. Eventually, through the contacts Marisol made working for the dressmaker she was given a place working at a theater company designing costumes in Spain. During her time working in the Spanish theater she started a love affair with an actress who turned out to be a vampire and eventually offered to turn her. Marisol, still going by Marie, agreed and after she was turned took the name Marisol at her sire’s suggestion.

Marisol spent the following centuries working as both a fashion designer for nobility and royalty as well as a costume designer for theater companies. Some of her notable clients included Shakespeare’s theater company, Queen Elizabeth, the court of the French Sun King, Catherine the Great, and the House of Worth. She took many lovers and made hundreds of contacts, becoming incredibly familiar with vampire communities all around Europe and occasionally visiting Faerune after it was established when initiated by various friends and lovers. A few months ago Marisol moved to Faerune permanently after having to leave her job designing costumes on the West End so as to avoid suspicion regarding her vampire status. She’s heard whispers that a man who shares the same name as her brother is an influential business owner in the city and is desperate to learn more while also once again searching for love and trying to recruit powerful clients.

Marisol came back out into the main room of her shop with a box of sewing supplies and a whole rack of fabric swatches. "I can't tell you how excited I was when you called saying you wanted a commission." She smiles and starts getting various things out of the box and putting them on a table. "Ok, before we do anything else I need all your measurements. Then we'll sit down and talk about exactly what you want and I'll do some sketches and we'll go from there!"

Marisol sat across from Leif feeling awkward. He was her nephew, the son of the brother who, up until extremely recently, she had thought was dead.  But they were so attached, and it was clear that Beau loved him with his entire heart, which only made her want to love both of them even more.  "I know a bit of french sign language, I feel bad, I know you and your dad sign but I doubt it's the kind I know. We don't have to talk if you don't want to though," Marisol rummages through her bag for a moment and takes out a glittery notebook and pen. "If you wanna write we can do that. Or we can just sit, whatever makes you most comfortable, I just want to be able to spend some time with you."

Marisol sat next to the other woman, sipping on a drink that for all intents and purposes was more sugar than blood. "I'm imagining that you don't know a ton of people here either." She looked around the room again, waiting for something she couldn't put her finger on. There were a few people at the vampires-only party she knew by face, even less she knew by name. Two, maybe three, that she had actually spoken to. "I'm Marisol, I just came to the city a couple months ago."

Marisol hauled out four rolls of fabric, two on each shoulder, huffing slightly under their weight. Coming back to the front, she put the fabrics on a table and smiled at Miss Buttons. "Let me know if you like any of these. I've got one that's a little fluffier and a couple other colors in the back but these are definitely the best quality." As she sat watching the other woman evaluate the potential purchases Marisol decided, "It's so nice to meet somebody else who understands the importance of good materials. I swear everything these days is just plastic. I mean I get it, plastic has its uses, but it's taken over everything, nobody even understands what they're missing." She sighed for a moment, at the end of the day it wasn't going to help anything to freak out, she was doing what she could. "So, are you still interested in a bit of a trade?"

Marisol was completely lost in her thoughts, her hands worked mechanically as she made ruching on silver silk.  Beau, Leif, all the things she had learned about Faerune. Marisol had come to the city to get away from the drama, literally, actors could be extremely tiring to work around. This shop, Tixtily, and the flat she lived in above it were supposed to be her way of getting away from drama, finding people she could be honest with, and doing the things she wanted to do.  The door to the shop jingled and Marisol jerked, snapped out of her sewing trance.  Walking to the front of the floor she smiled at the woman who had just come in. “Welcome to Tixtily! I’m Marisol.”

Marisol sipped at her blood daiquiri, it had about four pounds of sugar in it and was an almost bubblegum pink. But it got her a little tipsy and tasted better than almost all of the other properly legal stuff so it was serviceable.  She smiled at Emmet, “And you’re sure I can’t get you to jump ship and come work at Tixtily?” Before the boy could react she laughed. Tixtily and a Stitch in Thyme had had a friendly rivalry going for a few months now, Marisol firmly of the belief that clothes should be handmaid and custom and Mattie recognized that that just wasn’t practical.  “I’m joking, I’m joking. Although you know you’re always welcome. Tell me how school’s going. Oh! And I made you this, I had some time over the weekend.”  Marisol reaches into her bag and pulls out a small package wrapped in brown paper and blue ribbon.

Marisol took a water purifier filled to the brim with blood out of her refrigerator and poured out exactly the necessary amount for the two of them in pink glass mason jars.  Sitting down in an overstuffed armchair Marisol handed the glass to Edgar and noticed he was regarding it skeptically. “You don’t need to worry, it’s cruelty free. Only willing volunteers and never from the same person more than once every eight weeks, like a blood bank,” She smiled. Marisol had always been extremely careful about acquiring consent from what she liked to call her ‘donors’, when she was living in Spain with her sire and later working around Europe in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries it was pretty easy, just cycle through the servants and make sure they got a little extra in their paychecks that week. Now that it wasn’t exactly common to have a house full of servants and Marisol had learned first hand the importance of consent getting her hands on enough blood could be difficult. But there have always been those willing to trade blood for venom or favors and she made it work.  She realized Edgar had been speaking and was looking at her as though he expected the answer to a question. “I’m sorry, I think I missed that,” She shook her head, “I’m so distrait sometimes. Please, I want to hear what you had to say, I came to Faerune to get to know more vampires after all.”

The strawberry shaped kitchen timer Marisol kept on her work table rang out and she jumped slightly.  There was some important business man who had made an appointment for a custom suit or something like that. It was actually kind of exciting, men’s fashion, or at least formal wear, didn’t shift the way women’s did and she’d be able to use some skills that had been on the back burner recently.  Putting down the pins she was using to drape fabric on her dress form Marisol checked her planner. The name that was scribbled on her current time slot was ‘Beaumont Navarre.’ A small pit formed in her stomach, when you’ve lived half a millennia, occasionally you’re going to come across the names of dead loved ones and family. She’d known a handful of Beaus and Beaumonts in her time, many of them just as sweet and caring as the brother she lost back in France centuries ago. One was even named Beaumont Navare, with only the one R though, and he died in the 1850s of tuberculosis. Marisol’s velvet flats moved silently across the floor of the shop as she walked to the front. “You can come with me to the back Mr...”  Marisol choked. The air had completely left her lungs. Staring back at her in equal amazement was her brother. Her brother, Beau Navarre, who she had presumed dead for five-hundred years. There were no words, there was nothing Marisol could do, she was frozen in utter astonishment and completely unable to do anything other than stare and gape.
