During their Post-Canon travels, Mairin actually goes on her Badge Quest!

Most of the time she’s actually traveling alone, sometimes temporarily joining groups to get somewhere in a safer method. However, Mairin also sometimes gets to do field work for the Professor, which Alain joins her in.

She ends up with a Charmander and a Beldum, which totally arent gifts from her best friends from Kalos and Hoenn.

Also! Her pokemon are all accessorized!

Chespie has a checkered bandana thats a lil torn

Bebe’s flower has a little friendship bracelet thats tied around it (if she were to evolve to a Florges, it’d be tied to one of the bigger flowers in that poof)

The Charmander (give name ideas for it and beldum?) has a bell thats tied to it’s tail

Beldum has a bow tied to it. Beldum picked the bow themself.

Alain’s eyes are naturally rather blue, but in times of intense emotions...

His eyes glow; it’s quite scary to see, supposedly!

It doesn’t only happen in intense emotions! (they illicit a very intense yet brief form of it, though) It usually happens randomly; notably when he’s within an area that radiates Mega Evolution Energy, or near somewhere in which either Yveltal, Xerneas, or Zygarde reside.

Why does this happen? Well, it’s mostly an adaptation his body developed because of Mega Evolution Energy; made exponentially more noticable and prevalent because of his age.

It’s common for similar mutation to occur in other Mega Evolution Trainers, and mutations of anykind are an almost given after constant usage, due to the transmutative abilities of the energy. It’s not major things; just little details one might not even notice unless they were particularly observant.

Alain is True Neutral, and Mairin is Chaotic Good.

Neither of the duo have a voice of reason in them; it’s always come from other people. Mairin’s really good at getting into shenanigans and Alain just doesn’t want her to be hurt.

It has, however, ended up with Mairin stuck in a suitcase, and another time Alain being trapped in some cage in one of the ruins the were exploring.

Alain and Mairin are surprisingly mean to each other, all things considered. They dont try to hurt each others feelings, but they like making fun of each other

Mairin sometimes plays with Alain's hair, braiding it or just ruffling it with her hands. It's not something she started doing on purpose, but Alain's never told her to stop, so if she gets the chance, she will.

(Alain doesn't ask her for this directly, after a while he'd subconsciously bonk her shoulder with his forehead- 99% of the time when he's too tired to realize he's breaking his StrongTrainer™️ mask)

When Alain and Mairin first met, Alain couldn't speak Japanese very well but could understand it, and Mairin was the same with French.

Mairin is fluent in Japanese and Alain is fluent in French. They ended up settling on them both speaking the language their fluent in, but it also meant its near impossible to follow along.

Mairin and Alain share braincells. Their ideas are stupid but they are excellent at working together to do it, and they almost always get the desired results.

Alain's about 5'3-ish, and Mairin's 4'6. They are both short, and bite when this is mentioned.

Mairin once kidnapped Alain's scarf and cuddled it to sleep when she was sad. Alain didn't even realize until the next day, but didn't mention it other than to tease her that morning ("Mairin, you could've just said you wanted to snuggle")

Mairin will often pick flowers! She gives Alain flowers she thinks he'd like. Alain has an entire bag full of dried flowers because of this.

The first time Mairin rode on Charizard, Alain had told her to be careful, and she had joked that Alain was just a scaredy-Meowth, and she'd be fine, besides, Alain was there too.

She was not fine. Charizard took it upon himself to make Mairin eat those words (Charizard is Alain, with less impulse control) and pulled numerous stunts that had Mairin screaming and almost falling off. Of course, Charizard made extra sure she didn't fall.

(Alain was laughing when they landed. Mairin had yelled at him for a solid half hour.)

Alain is surprisingly good at sewing, mostly because his clothes are closer to the cheaper side and thus he often stitches them back together (and it doesn't look pretty up close, but it works). Mairin found pretty quickly and it was a topic for her teasing him for almost an entire week.

She ate those words after she realized her clumsiness meant her clothes might get rather battered, too.

(Of course, Alain promised to teach her if she promised to not make fun of him for it. It only took Mairin 3 days, and her cape button falling off, for her to accept)

Mairin always asks Alain questions about Mega Evolution. At first, he pretended to be annoyed, but he always loved talking about it. Mairin also, in turn, loved hearing Alain absentmindedly ramble endlessly about it.

Mairin is incredibly protective, and will try to throw hands at someone who disses Alain.

Alain, someone who doesn't like violence (partly because he doesnt want Mairin hurt and also partly because 'its easier to kill a sleeping person') had tried to hold Mairin back.

Despite being taller than her, he isn't stronger at all, and she always broke out of his grip. After she dislocated his bad shoulder (major ouchies all around, no one was happy) he stopped trying at all.

Mairin is far from Alain's first travel companion, but he never talks about any of his old ones, only mentioning he's ever had others a few times. Mairin keeps trying to unlock his Tragic Backstory™️ the truth is Alain just forgot their names and doesn't really want to admit that.

While Mairin usually slept in a sleeping bag under the stars, Alain just curled up with Charizard instead. Neither of them have tents- and would often find natural ways to hide from rain if they were camping (such as trees, rocks, or even sometimes abandoned dens).
