The Riverfront Plan in the Post and the official Central Riverfront Plan of 1928.Ā
A special type of postcard that I donāt see nearly enough are these kind that are retrospective. Both scenes above were long gone by the postmarks of 1906/1905, and capture scenes from the mid 19th century of a St. Louis pre-civil war
Single most amazing thing Iāve ever come across in the newspaper archive
Love these aerial shots of St. Louis
I am always surprised by how many major headlines Iām the first to clip on newspapers (dot) com, for the St. Louis area papers. Obviously Brown v. Board is the major headline, but more interesting and relevant to my recent work for the museum is the headline in the middle--āIntegration Also Being Planned for Harris and Stowe Collegesā--the two segregated teachersā colleges in St. Louis.Ā
Got a few new postcards this past week, this is one of my favorites.Ā
View from theĀ ādomeā (most likely the old court house rotunda) looking N.E. to Fourth Street. St. LouisĀ
April 1922, St. Louis Argus.Ā
One of the best looking depot postcards Iāve ever seen.Ā
The simple reason why St. Louis deserved to lose out on the chance to land an Amazon headquarters is: The plan design once again painted the Mississippi River blue.Ā
