Casey bustled around the set of its talk show busily.  Tonight was the big night!  An interview with the rising star of the heroism industry!  It couldnât have been more excited.  The crowd muttered in various alien languages, each from a different planet.  Finally, Casey sat behind its ebony desk, motioning for the spotlight to shine on the current guest (who was currently passed out on the armchair.  Talk about poor showmanship!)Â
âGood evening everyone, and welcome to Caseyâs Corner! Â Iâm your lovable host, the one and only Casey!â Â The crowd cheered.
âPlease, hold your applause. Â Tonight we have a very special guest star! Â Letâs give them a hand, eh?â
Markerius slowly came to, slightly opening his pale emerald eyes to look at the crowd. Huh⊠Sitting up and pulling himself into a better seated posture, he stared blankly out at the strange group of people, scanning through the eyes that were all on⊠him.
What is this?
His gaze slowly fell on the person across the stage from him, blinking in confusion. Oh, was that⊠Thatâs the game show host, right?
âIf I may speak,â He started, ever polite âWhat is this? I never crushed a coin.â The fiery man continued âHavenât you done enough to me? I think a body modification is quite enough mischief.â He brushed his bangs aside to reveal the odd eye on his forehead, evidence of his previous encounter with Casey.
âWhat a fiery intro!  As expected from the âFlames of Justiceâ, hows the eye treating you, by the way?â  Casey grinned, âAm I not allowed to interview one of my favorite contestants?  Youâre quite the celebrity around here, you know.â
Casey leaned forward, squinting slightly, âSo, Mr. ThatcheâŠhow is heroism treating you?  Do you enjoy your work?â
âI havenât noticed any difference in it, is it supposed to have some sort of special power or is it just another eye?â The fiery hero asked, tilting his head.
âWell, Iâd like a bit of warning firstâŠâ He huffed softly, carding his fingers through his bangs âInterviews are no problem, but itâd be nice to NOT be kidnapped and forced into one. I wonât hesitate to draw weapons if I have to.â
âItâs been⊠satisfactory, I suppose.â Markerius spoke, relaxing his posture a bit, though keeping his hand poised for weapon summoning âNot much has changed since I joined a hero team, though⊠Itâs just the same old same old that I used to do, I was hoping Iâd be catching higher profile criminals by now.â
âNo need to panic!â  Casey held its hands up, âThis is a family friendly program, summoning weapons isnât good television, right?.â Casey paused,  âThough then againâŠit could be good for the ratings!â  Canned laughter played through the studio.
âAnyway!â  Casey clapped its hands together, âAnybody whoâs ANYBODYâs been asking, is Solarisâs hottest hero on the market?â
âLike I said, there wonât be any weapon summoning as long as you donât give me a reason to do so.â He spoke, lowering his hand just a tad.
At Caseyâs next question, he flustered a bit, though not very much to be visible âE-Er,â He stuttered âIf you mean what I think you do, then yes, I am. Iâm not exactly looking for anyone at the moment, though.â
Casey laughed,  soaking in Markeriusâs embarrassment.  âOh, no need to be shy!  I mean, sure, youâre being broadcasted across the multiverse, but hey!â It made some dismissive hand gestures, âIâm sure youâll be alright.â
âAaand, Iâm not quite sure I believe you! Â Sources tell me you were seen on quite the excursion with a certain Midas Pierce, care to elaborate?â Â The crowd oohed-and-ahed excitedly.
He jolted slightly, furrowing his eyebrows. Across the... multiverse? That didnât sound good. Though it wasnât much just yet, he had a reputation to uphold. He straightened his posture, adjusting the bit of his cape that hung around his neck and clearing his throat.
That calmer air disappeared quickly, though, and he looked over at Casey in frustration and disbelief, sighing quietly â...I had seen him sitting in a coffeeshop and thought I should go in and say hello. We didnât get to speak as much as I had hoped at the introduction party. Is it really so wrong for me to want to talk to my team leader?â
