He hadn’t thought much of today. All his school periods had ended in a timely manner, fashioned like dominoes that tipped from one end to the other. There was no disruption, no lingering thoughts, and absolutely no idiots roaming about. And he was thankful. Of course, he sought some fancier luxuries since his luck today had gotten to his head. “Fancier luxuries” was better known as sitting outside and relaxing for once– an action he had solemnly avoided since this school was out for his head. He had done a bout of gardening, armed with a sunhat and all, and was just about done for the day.
It was on days like this that he could feel a tad detached from the world. And that, he had to admit, was the nicest gift he could reward himself.
Leaning against a tree, Jamie let out a relieved sigh. If all days were like this, he wouldn’t mind being here so much. He had his doubts, on whether his choice to come here was the right one, but today certainly treated him well. Sunkissed and dappled with light that filtered through the leaves, Jamie closed his eyes and embraced the warmth for once. It was gentle to the touch and left him feeling somewhat hazy, as though the weight he forced upon himself had lifted from his shoulders momentarily. If anything, it kind of felt like he was meant to be here. Just for this moment.
That was, of course, up until the moment he realized he was being showered with flowers like some god-awful model in a commercial. His ears glowed dimly red, as he cursed his disasterous instincts, that usually shot up like a firework when someone was too close for comfort. How could he have let his guard down this much to let someone get so close!? What was worse was this girl– hair flowing off her shoulders like endless waves of platinum gold– was a pure image of lack of inhibition. It was as though she something akin to something wild, something free.
There was an uncomfortable feeling that sprouted up like a weed when that thought came to mind. How could someone give off that kind of feeling? Like they were unshackled from this world of stress and worries?
“What do you think you’re doin’?” His eyes narrowed dangerously, trying to ascertain the reason why she approached him. As bright as she was, she surely must have been dim. No one would approach a stranger like that. He was in a flurry, dusting his sunhat of the flowers and petals she had ceremoniously sprinkled on him.
“What are you trying to do? Are you stupid?” Jamie continued, voice nearly sharpening to a knife-point. “We don’t even know each other…! So why–”
“Who are you? Or at the very least, who do you think you are? “
She blinked slowly, as his reaction to her flower shower was more hostile than anything else, how could someone be so against beauty? He had dirt on himself from what she assumed was gardening, so she doubted that he was allergic or anything of the like.
Tilting her head at his further protests, she scooped up the fallen flowers and threw them up in the air, this time showering them both, thinking that this attempt would cheer him up because he probably just wanted to share the experience! Smiling brightly, she caught one in the air and scooted closer to affix it to the stranger’s hat, but had difficulty, so she took the hat off his head and tried again with it sat on her lap.
