A New York Night

Aaron leaned over the bar, and squeezed the girl tightly. He moved his neck to give her a quick peck on the cheek. After one last squeeze, he let her go and grabbed his shot, downing the liquor quickly. He made a point to look over at the bar tender, making sure they dropped everything they were doing to serve the pair. The bartenders knew that whenever his friends came into the bar, they were to be served immediately. Marley was no exception. In fact, she practically ran the bar along with Aaron. Everyone here, and at everyone one of Aaron’s bars, loved Marley.
“My favorite_ woman_, my best customer.” Aaron laughed. He was amazed at how long the pair’s friendship had lasted. They had become close friends as kids on the show, and had become successful adults together. It’s true that Marley was one of his ride or dies. “And my daughter is my favorite girl, who misses her Aunt Marley dearly,” he chuckled as he took the drinks from his bartender’s hands and gave one to the brunette.
Aaron raised his brow. “Okay but did you see how creepy that man was? He reminded me of me years ago when we started the show. I really should have been punched in the face more often. It’s just me paying my dues.” He shrugged, taking a huge gulp of his drink. He was not planning on getting drunk tonight. Years ago, when Aaron saw Marley out he knew it would be a crazy night. This time though, he knew Marley was working on herself and had been making positive changes in her life. He didn’t want to be a negative influence, even thought he knew he could.
Aaron looked at her puzzled. “Hold on I texted you back…” he trailed off as he reached into his pocket for his phone. He scrolled down to his texts with Marley and saw an unanswered text from Marley from yesterday morning. “Oh shit, my bad.” he shrugged. “How can I make it up to you?” he said sarcastically, as he put on a big pout, imitating her.
The girl flipped her hair over her shoulder at his words, dipping her hips in a mock curtsy. “The day you have another favourite woman will be the day World War 3 starts.” She said with a playful wink, nudging him softly with her elbow. “I’m not looking forward to the day you replace me, you know. My jealousy will be raging.” She was mostly joking - Aaron had a habit of choosing girls that weren’t good for him. Hell, he must’ve slept with all of New York when they were on the show, not that she could say any different for herself. Before Logan, Marley slept around like it was her job. There had even been a time when Marley and Aaron had been a possibility, though she was long over that now. Still, he meant a lot to her. “Auntie Marley misses her Dessy-boo.” She cooed in babytalk. “I’ll have to have her over for a girls day soon.”
She rolled her eyes at his next comment, nodding in agreement. “I’ve had my share of run ins with the likes of him - the poor girl. I hope she’s alright.” She said, looking over her shoulder, concern etched across her features. It would be impossible to spot her in the crowd now, more people piling into the busy bar as the minutes went on.
Marley shook her head, a triumphant smile pulling at her lips as he pulled out his phone and checked. Her arms crossed over her chest as she looked up at the ceiling in mock deep thought, her fingers tapping against her forearm. “Mmm, not sure you can.” She teased, raising her drink to her lips. “You’ll have to get creative.” She said with a wink.
