Redrew an OC from last year’s Inktober. I was happy with it execution wise but the character came out older and more serious looking. This time around, I’ve gotten the personality right but execution wise, meh. I’ll blame it on the bad lighting in my room.

After watching this how can you not say Spirk is canon!

Never thought I’d do Bollywood fan art! Especially for a movie that was mostly meh. EXCEPT for the Khilji/Kafur scenes. Those were GOLD. Like when Kafur is presented to Khilji as a slave (dressed like a slave girl).

Khilji: What can you do for me?

Kafur: Anything my lord, if you wish I can give you my life

Khilji: Can you take lives?

Kafur: Yes my lord. Khilji: Kill those two *points at his uncles viziers*

Kafur: *Kills viziers* Anything else/Aur kuch? *smirk*

Sultan Alauddin Khilji with Kafur Malik Naib

The second and the most powerful ruler of the Khalji dynasty Sultan Alauddin Khalji (d.1316) who ruled Delhi Sultanate and became one of the greatest conquerors of India. Who are Khilji? It is a Turkic tribe that was named after a village in Afghanistan. Originally Turkic people that came to India. “The Khiljis were a Turkish tribe but having been long domiciled in Afghanistan, and adopted some Afghan habits and customs. They were treated as Afghans in Delhi Court” (‘History of Medieval India’ R. S. Chaurasia) And Alauddin’s general, a powerful eunuch Kafur Malik (d.1316) who commanded sultan’s forces during most his military campaigns. This handsome eunuch, a Hindu slave from Gujarat, who had embraced Islam - became Sultan’s great love. Alauddin was infatuated by his beauty and made him his lifelong favorite. Despite their tragic end, their feelings were still there, in their hearts, even if their hearts are buried, they made their history.

Why couldn’t we have had a movie that focused more on the historically canon relationship between Sultan Alauddin Khilji and his slave-general Malik Kafur instead of the hetero-blahness between Khilji and a possibly fictional woman Padmini?

Yes, that was a rhetorical question. Nevertheless, still appreciate Bhansali not shying away from throwing in some erotically charged scenes between Khilji and Kafur. Way more chemistry there than with Padmini!
