What exactly is it that a Live Arts Presenter does anyways?

I curate, produce & present performance art in all of it's iterations, typically for non-profit Arts organizations. I work too many shows to list them all, but here you can see some of my favorites. In addition to freelance productions, I have the honor of programming & producing at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. #Amazeballs #Everyday

All Power To All People - Art Basel edition

The larger than life monument conceived of by artist Hank Willis Thomas was invited by (Marcus Samuelsson), to exhibit adjacent to his newest Red Rooster location; Former pool hall In Historic Overtown, owned by famous music promoter Clyde Killens who hosted acts such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Sam Cooke, and Aretha Franklin.

It was the perfect location for All Power!.. Overtown is the second-oldest continuously inhabited black community during an era which, up until the Civil Rights Act of 1964, barred black residents from entering middle and upper income white areas like Miami Beach and Coral Gables without "passes. It is home to one of the oldest communities in Miami and Center of African American cultural life from the Harlem Renaissance to Motown era.

The Miami residency ends this month!

Idris Elba returns to his fatherland Sierra Leone and is given citizenship

Idris Elba returned to his fatherland, Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone's President Julius Bio presented a diplomatic passport and citizenship to Elba.

The last half of 2019 was spent in and out of West Africa. Freetown, Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 to be exact. Working on Elba Homecoming  ☝🏾This is Driis’ speed recap! .. I’m still processing my 5 months & will work on a recap of my own soon enough .. It was my unique & distinct honor to produce this Homecoming for my brother & to bear witness as he set foot in his Fatherland for the first time. I can’t wait for the full edit, so I can re-visit the feels. There were so many. I’m so grateful for the beautiful family that made this journey so magical. @freeac_4 @marsha.s.graham @stack_dmv this was a wild ride ! I’m so glad for the strength of you and that we got to share this experience. To quote the great @babaramdass : “We’re all just walking each other home” ✨

Marsha's second erection 😌🤣😄 . . . I dont typically use this space to talk about my work.. My day job is executive director of a non profit arts org: @kindred_arts It’s a cultural equity initiative. We conceive of & execute community arts programs in public spaces. 🌟 The initiatives are a means to activate civic dialogue, & to push back against the incremental erasure of public cultural expression & artistic freedoms. 🌟 Every activation is a peaceful protest 🌟 Historically Ive only curated performance art...Last year Hank expanded my horizons & I ventured into a visual arts collaboration with him.. the reward is equally as magic.. An act of Love A labor of Love Er'y one of you that nudged, pushed, applauded & willed this beauty into existence should feel proud. I am. I’m #proud and #grateful. .. NYC: Eiko Otake: A Body in Places — The Met Edition

A legendary choreographer takes on dancing about architecture

Was a honor to line produce this series . This project confirmed for me the importance of Museums  ( or any presenting venue for that matter ) to take a step back & consider what they can realistically accommodate vs what they envisioned when season planning.  Eiko was the consummate professional while the Met worked through its myriad security & space issues.
