āYou canāt fix everything,ā Clint said and shook his head. Tony lifted his head and glared at him.
āIām Anthony Edward Stark, I have four doctorates and a bunch of masters, if thereās one person on this planet who can fix it then itās me,ā he hissed.
āCome on, Tony,ā Clint sighed. āJustā¦ let me throw it away andā¦ā
āNo,ā Tony persisted. He removed the magnifiers for a moment and rummaged in his toolbox. When he found a tiny screwdriver he put them back on and went back to work.
āFour doctorates, huh?ā Clint suddenly asked. And Tony looked up once more.
āYes, physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineerings and medieval literature,ā he said and shrugged.
āYou have four doctorates and everyone calls you Mr. Stark?ā Clint asked incredulously. He leaned over the workbench to look at Tony, who worked concentrated. But this made him look up again.
āHow long do you know me?ā He asked out of the blue. Clint shrugged.
āSince New York, six years,ā he said then.
āAnd you still think I place any value on people telling me Iām smart?ā A small mischievous smile was on his lips.
Clint chuckled and shook his head again and Tony went back to his work.
āSoā¦ uhmā¦ medieval literature?ā Clint asked after a few minutes and cocked his head.
Tony sat up and looked at him, a smirk on his lips.
āYeah, knights and damsels in distress, baby,ā he said.
āSeriously?ā Clint blurted.
āYeah,ā Tony nodded and - with a tiny blush - he added, āand I was a huge fan of a certain archer who stole from the rich and gave it to the poor.ā He winked.
āThatās the reason for the armor?ā Clint winked back. Tony cocked his head and looked at him, his brows furrowed.
āHuh,ā he said, āIāve never seen it from this point of view. But it makes sense. The armor was the first thing that came into my mind in that cave.ā
āWhen I was a boy I waited for a knight in shining armor to save me from my dad,ā Clint admitted. āBut those fuckers always wanted to rescue damsels and not little boys.ā
āWant me to put on the armor?ā Tony asked and Clint shook his head, leaned over to him with a smile and kissed his cheek.
āNo, not necessary,ā he said. āI found my knight, and you know what? He already saved me.ā He smiled and when Tony looked at him, he kissed him again. āSoā¦ uhmā¦ I leave you to yourā¦ work,ā he said and rose.
And halfway on his way to the door he heard Tonyās āHA!ā behind himself and the typical Tetris music started to play, āI knew I wouldnāt be bested by a twenty-five years old Game Boy!ā
