                  ( MaryKaye slowly made her way towards the room that had                     been given to their surprise guest, a basket of apples in hand.                     Despite the bad timing, it was so unusual for the little island to get                     visitors, and MaryKaye intended to make an event of it. MaryKaye,                     however, had been warned that this woman was…. different. ) “ Ms. Hale, I’d like to welcome     you to Terebinthia. We hope    you have a nice, cozy stay. ”                                   ( MaryKaye smiled at the woman, who she found was                                          extremely gorgeous - like no other person she had                                     ever seen. How very unusual, and how pale she was. ) “ I do hope you like apples. I picked them from my tree.  ”

                   ( Nina sat at the table in the make-shift kitchen her sister-in-law                       had designed in the great castle of Terebinthia, otherwise known                      as their new home. Slowly but surely, the castle - and the great                      island, was starting to feel like a home to all of the Aarons’ family.                      Not to mention to the Burke family, as well. ) “ You know what, Mary Kaye?     I do believe this apple tree is    the best thing to happen to you here.  ”                                    ( Nina smiled. Tormenting Mary Kaye was                                            one of her favorite hobbies.                                      She was, after all, the little sister to Kevin. ) “ How do you make the apples turn out so… juicy?  ”

                   ( Ever since the family had been brought to Terebinthia, MaryKaye                       slowly made changes to their new daily lives - turning the crazy                      mess into a home. While the changes were more extravagant,                       MaryKaye tried her best to make things seem normal. This included                      creating a makeshift kitchen in the new castle they called home. ) “ Thank you, Nina. MayBelle     and I do try our best to keep     the tree happy and healthy. ”                                    ( MaryKaye smiled. The apple tree MayBelle and                                            Jesse got for her was one of her most cherished                                      possessions - she tended to it on a daily basis. ) “ Have you ever thought the magic of this land made it so juicy?  ”

"My flowers, mom! The pink flowers daddy brought home to me! They’re actually GROWING!" MayBelle hadn’t been so excited about something for a long time. MayBelle was afraid they were gonna die, despite all of the hard work she put into them every day.

"Come look, mommy! Come on!" Excitement could be heard in the little girls voice, as she grabbed onto her mother’s hand and gently tugged towards the greenhouse. "It’s like magic! It’s like they grew overnight, enough to tell there’s a difference!" MayBelle was now jumping up and down beside her mother, still urging her towards the green house. "Oh won’t you please come and see it!?"

"I'm coming, honey." MaryKaye chuckled, as she let her daughter pull her forward. With their finances being so low, MaryKaye was extremely surprised that MayBelle had taken a strong liking to the flowers, which seemed to be such a small gift. In the eyes of Kevin, however, it was a gift that he knew had the ability to mean the world.

"They're growing, huh?" MaryKaye asked, smiling down at her almost youngest daughter. "That's good, sweetie! I'm so proud of you, my little gardner!" MaryKaye playfully bopped MayBelle on the nose just before they reached the door to the greenhouse.

WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST HUMAN MEMORY?

Mary Kaye’s earliest memory is when she was about 3, her mother would have friends over for lunch all the time.Her mother had let her join them and eat on the expensive porcelain china plates.She ended up dropping it because it was so heavy, and it shattered across the floor.It was the first time she remembers being embarrassed because of something she’d done.Her mother tried comforting her, but she wouldn’t calm down for a long time.She was so ashamed.

Apple Pies

"Mom!" Little MayBelle hollered, as she ran as fast as her small legs could possibly let her go. "MOM!" Doing the exact opposite of what seemed smart, MayBelle started yelling louder the closer she got to the house. "Mommy! Come look! They’re growing!"  For the past month, MayBelle had been patiently tending to four small, pink flowers her father had brought home for her. At first, MayBelle kept her precious flowers under the work tables. That is, until Jesse told her it would be smarter to keep them in sunlight. Now that they’re getting sun and water everyday, they are finally starting to grow. MayBelle couldn’t have been any happier.

Mary was spending her afternoon in the kitchen. She had just gotten out everything she needed to prepare to make apple pie. The neighbors, thankfully, were thoughtful enough to give them some spare apples they had left over from their tree. Mary was humming quietly to herself, enjoying what she hoped would be a stress free day when she heard MayBelle screaming for her.

At first, Mary's heart-rate went through the roof, scared to death that something bad had happened. "MayBelle!" Mary hollered back, as she ran through the door and onto the porch. Her heart-rate quickly started to drop when she realized it was nothing but overexcitement she had heard in her daughters voice. "Oh, MayBelle, sweetie. You scared me half to death!" She exclaimed, with her hand resting gently across her chest.

"What are growing, honey?" She asked, as she kneeled down beside her daughter and gently brushed a couple stray strands behind MayBelle's ear.
