Once again, thank you all so very much for participating and/or volunteering for the MSA of Marymount University. We sincerely appreciate all of your hard efforts to make this week a special week. And with that, Islam Awareness week comes to a close. #IAW #muiaw #islamawarenessweek #msa

Friday, March 20th: Final Dinner MashAllah. Yesterday, Omawali Murray took his Shahada- the Muslim profession of faith. So a big, warm welcome to brother Omar to the Muslim Student Association of Marymount University and welcome to the muslim faith. #SubhanAllah #MSA #muiaw
Our second main event on Thursday, March 20th was the "Thank a Staff/Faculty member." For this event, we had a table set up with blank thank you cards and students were given the opportunity to write a thank you note to their professors/tutors at Marymount University. We would have them delivered. MashAllah, this was yet another great and successful day.
Thursday, March 20th: Science and Islam Lecture Hamdy Eisa is the Lead Agriculturalist at the World Bank and is also a geneticist. We were lucky as to have Dr. Eisa give a lecture at Marymount University this past week. #msa #muiaw
Day One of Islam Awareness Week Ladies High Tea Party
This was a social ladies only event. The purpose of the Ladies High tea party was for the girls whom participated in Wear-A-Hijab Day to come for a reflection. As well as allow ladies to come in and discuss other topics while enjoying light desserts and tea. There was an open discussion where topics ranged from the experience of wearing the hijab, stories about how some girls first started wearing the hijab, marriage and other popular female topics. The discussion was lighthearted and fun! Allowing for the ladies to make new friends as well as relax during the cold day (Right after snow caused-delays). Alhumdulillah this event was also a huge success!

Wear-A-Hijab Day Part 1
Assalamu Alaykum everyone,
This was our second Wear-A-Hijab Day at Marymount University and the first day back to campus from spring break. Alhumdulillah it was an even better turnout than last year. We had 50+ girls volunteering to wear the hijab for one whole day. This was for both non-Muslims and for Muslims whom do not wear the hijab. These ladies looked absolutely beautiful in the hijabs that they picked out themselves! At the end of the day, some of the participants came to our High Tea Party (for ladies only) to discuss their experience, thoughts, feelings and input on the whole experience. Most of the ladies said that they would love to do this again if given the oppurtunity. Another favorite quote of ours during the Tea Party was "I felt busy and hectic the whole day--my day was crazy up until I wore the hijab and I felt oddly very calm and serene afterwards". We would like to thank all of our participants and our officers/volunteers that helped make this event successful. We broke this blog post into parts to share most pictures from Wear-A-Hijab Day.
JazakAllah Khair
