Yes Elvis is an iconic singer and showman but have y’all heard of Bobbie Gentry??

She was born in Mississippi and went on to do shows in Vegas much like Elvis. She was a pioneer in country music in the late 60s for writing and producing most of her music. She had a variety show with guests like Donavan and Johnny cash. She vanished from the music scene in the late 70s I think. She wrote this iconic southern gothic song and won 3 Grammys.

And this is one of my favorite songs by her. It was also made famous by Reba when she covered it in 1990.
