Idk how into MASH you are anymore but I need to tell someone about this new info I learned that’s time loop related and you are my MASH time loop blog.

Okay, so, I was reading up on some Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen trivia and it said that after the initial airing, they played the pilot episode right after. It’s been like this, don’t you see? The time loop has always been there! The creators— they were the ones who started this!

Idk if this necessarily fits in with the MASH time loop theory, but like the way no one (especially in the earlier seasons) can ever remember what time it is over in the States. . .

i have to admit, my favorite way to watch mash is to imagine it's the second or third or even seventh time these events have happened. sometimes Hawkeye is aware of it, but sometimes he isn't. some episodes, he knows he's about to watch someone die or have the worst day of his life, again. he knows exactly where every piece of shrapnel is inside some 16 year old kid because he's picked out every piece of shrapnel from this 16 year old kid fifteen times already. he knows who dies and he still tries everything to save them. some episodes, he has no idea he's trying in vain to save someone he's never been able to save before, and may never be able to save. he's going to try everything. he can't help but try everything. and the food doesn't get better, either

I think the timeloop is fully cemented once we hit ep 4x19. like I can't explain why, but I think that Hawkeye could escape the loop if he just avoids getting that concussion. but he doesn't realise he's in a loop until after that, so he's stuck. that feels like the moment to me, like he has to go through everything with Trapper, he has to meet BJ, but if he avoids the brain injury he could maybe avoid the downward spiral going the way it did. I'm rattling the bars of my cage, does this make any sense??

*splits the board down in half with the stuff about time loops being inherent in long running sitcoms on the doyalist side and this EP on the watsonion side* This is such a good watsonion explanation for the time loop that takes it in earnest. It takes Hawkeye into account. As far as a clear cut explanation for when he realizes he's in a time loop, yeah I see it I get it.

The episode about captain Tuttle is giving me time loop thoughts, mostly because of Hawkeye’s comment about Trapper being a figment of his imagination

Yeah... *Sighs and adds it to the board* Tuttle is honestly such a fun and silly episode I feel like it's really the little things they say that add to the time loop theory more than big events, barring a war for all seasons the most timeloop EP.

*helps to pick up the corkboard while making conversation* Y’know, it’s too bad Radar is gone by the time Hawk figures out the time loop. Hawk would’ve loved a proper explanation, get some questions answered. And Radar fits the bill of someone who’d have a time loop figured out, since he understands how the army and their paperwork works.

*puts the corkboard back up* thanks yeah, Radar is THE guy who figured out it's a time loop ages ago but kind of thought that's just how it goes, it's normal or smth it's the army who knows and made it work for him by having his premonition thing just be him remembering what's happened before. But of course that begs the question, what about Henry? How did he not see that coming. Well, that was not the normal day in day out of it he'd gotten used to in the time loop. That was different. Sometimes things do change in the time loop sometimes time does move on with or without them. And I think by the time Radar left he just wanted to go home.

*flips the corkboard over and starts scribbling on the back* Of course of course that's the whole thing isnt it, that it ends at some point. It's that it's one of the explanations for the way you fit 11 seasons into 3 years, it has to end. It has to. The whole thing is that they go through what feels like the same thing day after day, it's not but it is but it's not, and then GFA ends it because the show ends. They're intertwined, they're the endings that have to happen. It has to end at some point, everything does.

*me adding to your MASH string covered corkboard* when the time loop restarts, Hawkeye doesn’t remember the time loop. But, he’s been getting better about figuring out he’s in a time loop. It’s been happening between seasons 8 & 10 lately.

*nods frantically, chugs a mtn dew* so by season 8 he's started figuring out that something is happening, but he just doesn't know if it's the war on or himself, and by season 11 he kind of gets it. And then you finish the show, and immediately go back to s1 EP1 and get him back in the time loop.

A s9 EP 6 a for all seasons is when time really takes turn and we've got even more Christmas's than ever could exist within a 3 year time span and the show still has more seasons to go-
