I’m gonna be honest, I felt this was a step backwards from the dark elf trilogy in terms of character writing. I had a hard time picking some of these. and we are falling behind on dragons and evil wizards!

superlatives for the legacy:

mvp: uhhhh thibbledorf pwent, living frag grenade.

most improved: I’m tempted to give it to vierna for speed-running like, four or five level ups in cleric. shame it didn’t work out.

one-trick pony: artemis trying to get a satisfying duel out of drizzt. keep trying babe!

best standalone scene: the battle with the goblins. I liked the world building for mithral hall :)

seven seconds of fame: drider dinin. weird we didn’t see more fallout from that with drizzt.

best fake out: artemis acting as catti-brie and wulfgar’s wedding planner for two weeks. I wonder what menu he picked. honorable mention to all of the other bizarre lies artemis told for no reason (lost use of an arm and eye, oh no I’m falling to my death, etc.)

I've been getting into the Drizzt books again and I've come to a Conclusion:

Lolth would absolutely fucking hate the concept of Spider-Man with every silken fiber of her being. First they're bitten by a spider and given spider powers by someone who Is Not Her, already a massive insult, but then instead of choosing the path of evil, the spider-chosen person chooses to be kind to people and do good despite all the evil they see in the world? And they even take the name Spider to do it? What the fuck?

Conversely, if any of the Spider-People ever found out about Lolth, they would think it's absolutely fucking hilarious that they took a symbol of evil and appropriated it for something the evil refuses to comprehend (especially people like MCU Peter, Miles Morales and double-especially Hobie Brown). I particularly like the idea of them making a group dedicated specifically to repatriating the spider symbol to the side of good and forcibly making Lolth's symbol, like, a mosquito or smth

(Of course, Drizzt would also find the concept of Spider-Man super cool and would 100% support the spider repatriation efforts, partly as a therapy method and partly because he wants to piss off Lolth)
