Gone were the days he was able to sleep without a single glass of whiskey in his hand and a mind void of weariness and heaviness. Elliotâs body shuts down quite punctually once he was off the clock and by instinct, he was certain he needed all the alcohol he can get to wind down exponentially. Most of the time, heâd frequented a particular bar, because like most people, they came to get away from their troubles, to shelter themselves from the gruesome thoughts and truths lingering around the city. He had a part in it sure. But he was not invulnerable to its horrors, seeing it happen and having a hand in it.
The tv had been a less than pleasant distraction, it was as if the world was telling him that he couldnât get away with whatever it was that was happening. And he couldnât. Not at all.
He could only sigh quietly in relief when he heard the manâs voice behind him and the subsequent powering off of the tv.
âOn the contrary.â he raises his glass slightly, tipping it just slightly as if proposing a toast. âI have you to thank for saving me the energy to have to be polite and do the same myself.â
Elliot downs his glass, orders another and lets out a small rumbling noise before he turns to the other. âI agree. Itâs horrible. Iâd have sunshine and rainbows as much as I can, if I had a choice. But the worldâs gone to hell in a handbasket.â
âIs that why youâre drinking? Sick of all this too? Because if thatâs the case, you ainât alone on that pal.â
Mason usually wasnât so rude to others, though this news had him on edge about everything. His daughter was somewhere in the shadows with his brother, he still wasnât sure if they were safe where they were. As the other didnât seem to care of his change in channel he was relieved. He nodded his head aggreeing completely with the other, âBeing sick of this is just the beginning.â He spoke looking at the other, âHow are you affected by all of this?â He asked realizing that was probably too forward since if MAson weâre asked that question he wouldnât be so liberal to say that his daughter and brother are both dead. Thatâs just like saying heâs hiding a fugitive which was now against Killbourne law.Â
