Savannah
at THE PROM in NEW HANOVER HIGH. @wilmingtonstartersâ
Despite the horrible night sheâs having, volunteering is actually kind of nice. You know, your own life is shit so do good unto othersâ it doesnât leave her time to overthink herself into disaster. Yet. Sheâs working barback, mostly dishwashing, cleaning counters and collecting empty glasses from the bar, but when the bartender has to step away for a minute to take what looks to be an urgent call, Savannah slots in to fill for him right as someone steps up. âHi. Can I interest you in one of our specials today? Itâs a shot on the house only if you donât flinch and only if you compliment my outfit. Iâm listening.â
As soon as he reached the bar, Mason reached up to untie his bow tie and unbutton the top button of his shirt. He had stayed as smart looking as he could, for as long as he could, but a tuxedo man, Mason wasnât. Blowing out a deep breath as he felt the pressure release from around his neck, the vet instantly felt a lot more comfortable. Mason had no issues dressing up when needed, heâd put on a smart shirt and a blazer whenever needed, but the tuxedo he had been talked into was a whole new ball game. âHi, sorry, I was miles away.â Running a hand through his hair, Mason looked back at the girl, a little bewildered. âWell the long forgotten college student in me says I canât turn down a free shot so, thatâs a very nice dress and what is this shot Iâm not meant to be flinching at?â
