[image description: a photograph of a metal sign on a hillside, which reads "YOU DID NOTHING WRONG BY ASKING TO BE TREATED RIGHT". Behind the sign is a spray of greenery, then a city stretches in the valley beneath the hill, and the sky is vast and cloudy, purple-tinted in the sunset. End ID]
i want to be inconvenienced by you. i want to wait for you, i want to hold your things while you do something else, i want to make adjustments to my plans to make space for you. someone at your side who takes up no space and has no needs of their own is not a person, but a shadow. i don't want a shadow, i want you. i want my life to be altered by your presence in it. please, inconvenience me.
do you seriously consider someone saying "my love for you is unconditional and based in the trust that we are permitted to need and want the other in small everyday ways; never feel ashamed to ask me for help or for being a part of my life"
Having needs and expressing them is good actually, and it's tragic that people are so willing to swallow themselves so as to not be a "burden" on each other. My girlfriend and I lend each other our metaphorical spoons all the time. That's not toxic, that an honest relationship, where we ask for help when we want it- not just need it. When we want it.
May the people who think taking up space is toxic or co-dependent find healing. Because y'all... it ain't good to think that way. You have needs. I hope you feel safe enough to stop hiding them one day
Friendly reminder: the Jedi are not a "cult of baby snatchers," and it's pretty wildly offensive to call them that or compare them to the First Order kidnapping infants, replacing their names with call numbers, and raising them to be stormtroopers.
All the Order does is identify Force Sensitives and ask if their families wish for them to be trained. Families make the the choice to keep or give up their children by themselves. TPM makes this clear when Qui-Gon asks Anakin if he wants to be a Jedi, clearly identifying that it's a "hard life" and "won't be easy," and asks Shmi if that's a life she wants for him. It's also clearly standard practice, as we see with Plo Koon & Ahsoka in TCW.
Jedi children keep their birth names. Their family information is on file for them to check if they wish. They're allowed (and encouraged, even!) to have culturally-important clothing, traditions, markings, and jewelry. They're not being denied that knowledge or forced to stay.
Yan Dooku is named COUNT Dooku specifically because he voluntarily left the Order, returned to his homeworld, and reclaimed his birth heritage and title. He knew Serenno was his homeworld and he'd known since he was a child, because that wasn't information the Jedi hid from him.
Luminara and Barris Offee have traditional Mirialan facial tattoos and there's a practice of Mirialan Jedi taking on Mirialan padawans that the Order clearly accepts. Ahsoka and Shaak Ti wear their Akul Teeth proudly on their montrals. Quinlan Vos wears facepaint. Depa Billaba has her Mark of Illumination piercings despite being too young to have formed a genuine connection with Chalactan culture when she was rescued. Jedi do not deny children their names, families, or connections to their birth cultures. It's exactly the opposite, and I really need fandom to start thinking criticially about this issue.
ok, im rebloging this again because im seeing obsene amounths of people in here talking about how content creators shouldnt care about numbers and ratios and that its all about curating your blog and whatever
let me first just say that numbers have meaning beyond someone mentally relating their worth to them. to content creators numbers equal exposure. and exposure means engagment. the more engagment there is the more active you are as a creator because you get an active audience.
now let me show you the numbers and you can make your own conclusion. I'm by far not the most popular creator but in my opinion there was a period of time when i was getting decent constant engagment.
Is it better or worse for creators to want reblogs instead of likes? how a higher engagement relates to more relavent fandom art (as there is communication with the community and what they would like to see) And witness the decline in the ratio as the years go by.
I started to actively post my art on here in 2017. these are my top 3 post from each year since
pls look at these numbers and tell me that the overall engagment on a post hasn't dropped because of lack of reblogs. and that content creators wouldnt get discouraged looking at this rapid decline in numbers.
what would be the reason for content creators to continue creating content if nobody would actually see it?
Blank blogs? ageless blogs? minors? this one is for you.
Blank bios? Consider customizing your blog please, or at least using an avatar that’s not the default one!
Yes you (blank blogs) look suspicious as f*ck to us, you could be a minor, a bot account, or just a weirdo - who knows. But if you’ve noticed you keep getting blocked, it’s at least because of the reasons stated above.
I’m drained, I’ve blocked so many in the last two weeks & it bleeds into my personal time. I don’t care if you are new, from Twitter, ig whatever - tumblr works different. Please pay attention to warnings in people’s bios and pages. DONT IGNORE IT. Please learn tumblr community etiquette.
Minors ?
What are you still doing here?
Unfollow!
Do your homework & look up why we are yelling this at the top of our lungs. You reading nsfw blogs is illegal. It can get us in trouble. Please have some respect. If you see ‘no minors’ , ‘minors dni’ , ‘minors do not engage’, ‘adult 18+ only’ or any variation of that backup and leave.
Once I have time, I am going through my whole follow list & blocking all blank blogs i still see, and any that are ageless. I’ll take my time bc I’m not getting paid for this. But you’ve been warned. If you are a minor or plan to keep a sketchy looking blog anyway, just leave on your own.
Ageless ?
Again, you look suspicious & most will block you on sight. Most will assume you are a minor and block you. Me included. Not comfy putting your exact age? That’s fine! An age range still helps! I have a range in mine.
So if you enjoy reading fics and are not a minor, but you have a blank blog or no age in your bio - please consider adding an age, an age rage and customized your blog.
This account made a great guide for new users. If you are new please read.
abortion is a human right. my partner and I have compiled an exhaustive document with links to abortion funds and pro-choice organizations to support during this time, including state-specific resources. please consider donating + sharing!!!
so idk if they teach you this in drivers’ ed class or whatever, but if you see someone in the opposite direction flashing their high beams at you, they’re NOT being a dick. they’re saying, “SLOW DOWN, I just saw a police car back there”.
If I hadn’t known that today, I wouldn’t have noticed the police car hiding in its fox hole and gotten a ticket for going 20 over the speed limit. and I’m glad I don’t have to pay $80 for a dumb mistake!!!
In deer country this is also used to warn others about a herd up ahead. In either case, the double flash means that some nonsense is occurring and ya gotta slow down!
Double-flash also means “turn on your headlights”. Basically, if someone’s flashing their brights, pay super-close attention and figure out what’s going on.
They could ALSO be flashing them to tell you to turn YOUR brights off because you’re blinding them! It’s common courtesy to turn your brights off for oncoming traffic, but not everyone knows this~
I’ve also seen it used to warn of an accident ahead. Basically anytime someone flashes their brights at you, if your own lights are 1) on, and 2) not on bright, you can take it to mean “slow down and pay attention for the next stretch of road particularly.”
Whether that’s for a speed trap, a herd of deer, or four fire trucks, two ambulances, and a dozen squad cars all clustered around what used to be two vehicles, slowing down and paying attention is good for you and can save you a lot of money and/or heartache.
to everyone who's lost a dad, has suffered abuse from their dad, has no or a strained relationship to their dad, is struggling to concieve, or anything else that makes today hard, i see you. you have every right to take today for yourself. you have no obligation to call your dad or do anything for him, if he hasn't earned it. sending everyone struggling today so much love.
PSA: Just a friendly reminder that whenever you start a creative project, you will invariably hit a phase where the Thing™️ appears horrendous and you start asking existential questions. But if you keep working, it invariably passes and starts to resemble something less like the devil’s vomit. Doesn’t matter if it’s art, writing, or what–this happens repeatedly. Carry on.
This is a bit of advice I always pass on to people asking me about art. EVERY. SINGLE. PEICE. Every single one that I love I have at one point or another wanted to throw in the trash. Wanted to burn in a fire. Wanted to give up and leave it. The trick is to go “okay what is the worst part and how do I fix it” and just focus on that ONE thing. Then you do that again for the second worst. Then you do it again. And again. Until finally nothing needs fixing. And then it’s done and it’s beautiful.
If you dont love it, it’s not done yet. That’s all there is to it.
draw a head and then 'decorate' that head however you're feeling (I drew a man with a hole for a face. It worked)
listen to a song and try to focus on one (1) instrument at a time, baseline, drums, guitar, another guitar, repeating sound effect
wash your face
take a nap or go to bed early
call someone. tell them about your horrible day or let them talk about theirs or both
go through your camera roll (specifically the screenshots folder)
go through your saved instagram posts / tumblr likes
watch That One Really Great Live Performance of That Artist You Love, then read the comments of everyone having great taste like you do
cry a little about it
remember that this day will end and another will begin. it'll be all new, never experienced before, no bad things will have happened, and you'll be okay.
