nene yashiro will always be my favorite manga/anime protagonist because literally no one is doing it like her. she's such a wonderful character. i always love the ones that take a really common stereotype for women or girls and flip it to make it much better and more interesting and nene is one of my favorite examples.. i love that she's so focused on romance but it feels more like a character trait than sexism because she's just so earnest about it. those kinds of emotions are completely congruent with the rest of her character and so it adds to her instead of detracting from her.
but also, she just loves herself so sincerely. she's so well adjusted that the story's conflict comes from her being too normal rather than too weird. she's insecure especially near the beginning but she never seems to be ashamed of the person that she is -- she feels remorse when her actions lead to something bad but she's not riddled with guilt over it; she dislikes her legs and her bust size but she focuses less on it as the series progresses. she develops as a character but her personality barely changes because 1) she's resilient and 2) she loves herself, in every sense of the word. she values who she is now rather than wanting badly to change.
maybe she's not super popular with boys but she has friends and people she's familiar with, she's kind, and friendly: she's just some girl, and the story works so well because she's so normal. she's scared of bugs, she's not very good at school (at least enough that she had to worry about remedial classes), she does foolish things, she's reckless and impulsive. she's only fifteen, and she's not used to this world, so what more would you expect from her? but she manages to survive through everything, she continues trying knowing she's going to die, she believes that everything will be okay as it is because she is stronger than she ever thought she could be. it's less that she changes as a person and more that she recognizes parts of her that she couldn't see before. i love you nene yashiro
Guys can we all collectively make a pact where we all stop saying Tbhk and say Jshk instead. It's supposed to mean "GHOST BOY Hanako-kun". The "Jibaku" part has a double meaning as well, where it means "self-destruction".
the "my favorite character did nothing wrong" mindset is completely unappealing to me because i love thinking about all the things my favorite characters did wrong
i’m not transphobic but i really don’t like transfem jax….it just doesn’t make sense to me and i don’t like that this theory become popular after ep5, where jax wears a maid dress, bc for me this is just gender stereotypes (and yes i know there’s many other things that can be ummm interpreted as transgender but still it doesn’t make sense !!!to me!!! as i said before)
maybe for this opinion tadc fandom will beat tf out of me idk
starting a post with "I'm not transphobic but" makes the rest of it look bad regardless of what it says lol
The Phantom Of The Opera

I just realized we seriously managed to go the entire Candy Kingdom episode, an episode about a world of candy where Caine is worshipped as their deity, without ever making a Candy Caine pun.
i had to ok… the idea wouldn’t leave my head
Zooble was there for Gangle, and now Gangle is there for Zooble.
I absolutely loved this little scene. Their bond is so precious!
Excuse me while I sob violently.
One aspect of The Amazing Digital Circus that makes for a compelling mystery is that it would have been trivially easy for Caine to lie about the backstory, yet he - seemingly - didn't.
He didn't have to include Kinger's desk and computer in the simulation. He didn't have to let Abel use the real company acronym, or talk about a company at all. He could have made up anything, but yet he stuck pretty close to the truth.
There are a few interesting implications of this. Caine might be a bad liar. Caine might be bad at imagination. Caine might not see the need to lie. Caine might be fascinated with exploring the truth himself. All of this has support in the show.
What it means is that you can't dismiss the clues out of hand. You can't afford not to play along. Even an obviously fabricated way out might give clues to the real thing. And that is so cruel, because that means you can never afford the comfort of giving up. You can never entirely give up hope, and thus you have to see your dreams crushed, again and again.
Because sooner or later, the exit may actually be real.
I think Caine implies (in his office with Bubble) that he tried to give them an adventure with what they wanted, ie answers and an exit. so everything from ep 7 should be trueish
the last tadc episode airs on midsommar...
