It’s too cold for bluebirds, so I have to enjoy these old photos I took.
The neighbors got themselves a new rooster.
Just in time for Halloween, a committee of turkey vultures conglomerated around my house, ready to pick my bones.
Blue poison dart frog (Dendrobates tinctorius azureus)
Silvery-cheeked Hornbill (Bycanistes brevis) at Bird Kingdom, Niagara Falls. Like a toucan… except hornier.
This was my first time seeing a columbine flower. They look something aliens would cultivate.
Aquilegia is a genus of about 60-70 species of perennial plants that are found in meadows, woodlands, and at higher altitudes throughout the Northern Hemisphere, known for the spurred petals of their flowers.
So my grandmother lives across from an alpaca farm.
Apparently these are native to Siberia, which explains why they do so well in upstate NY!...
*Cue sultry music*
The Nicobar pigeon (Caloenas nicobarica) is a pigeon found on small islands and in coastal regions from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India, east through the Malay Archipelago, to the Solomons and Palau.
These cheeks are the only thing I need in life.
The eastern rosella (Platycercus eximius) is a rosella native to southeast of the Australian continent and to Tasmania. It has been introduced to New Zealand where feral populations are found in the North Island and in the hills around Dunedin in the South Island.
China is very lucky to have such a colorful bird roaming around in the wild.
The golden pheasant (Chrysolophus pictus) or Chinese pheasant is a gamebird of the order Galliformes and the family Phasianidae. The genus name is from Ancient Greek khrusolophos, “with golden crest”, and pictus is Latin for “painted” from pingere, “to paint”.
A fan-favorite ibis at the aviary.
The scarlet ibis (Eudocimus ruber) is a species of ibis in the bird family Threskiornithidae. It inhabits tropical South America and islands of the Caribbean.Â
I just arrived back from a trip to Niagara Falls. I have never seen so many seagulls in my life (and I’m from Florida…) There, however, were none on the Canadian side so they either forgot their passports or something more sinister was afoot. I have my eye on you seagull-hating Canadians.
