Kurt gasped and took his hands to his mouth, afraid that Dave might hurt himself. He should have thought of that before creeping up behind him. “I’m sorry!” He gave him an innocent look as he turned around. “I heard you sing came in…” He said in answer to the unfinished question before giggling at Dave’s reaction to his ears. “Mhm.” He’d chosen his outfit well. He smiled lightly at his boyfriend and let him pet his ears, purring softly with contentment. “For us. For our first date. But I can wear them often more if my master would like…” He fell right into Dave’s arms and hugged his neck, still beaming up at him. He felt like that was exactly where he belonged, and that alone was an amazing feeling. He nuzzled Dave back affectionately, and chuckled lightly. “I couldn’t spend another minute away from you…” He murmured, looking up from under his eyelashes and itching to kiss him. Was it possible to love even someone’s breath?

Kurt’s breathing faltered as he felt Dave’s hand down his back and wiggled his butt a little when he realised he was feeling his tail. Kurt was panting just from that but he didn’t want to be the one to give into kissing. Instead he let out a quiet laugh. “I saw that. And I don’t mind at all. I’m sorry I startled you.” He nuzzled his nose some more, resisting to the kiss, and then peeked behind Dave. He looked at the salad and gave it an approving nod. “I brought some pie recipes. How does that sound?” He asked turning back to him. He couldn’t really move away to his bag or the when Dave was holding him so close even if he wanted to. So he might as well give up. He sighed for his own weakness, and threw himself at Dave’s mouth to kiss him passionately. Maybe they should just skip the date and make out. Kurt who thought of himself as a romantic, would be happy with that possibility.

Dave shushed Kurt, a hint of amusement at the unneeded apology. His eyes darkened at Kurt's words, a hint of lust flashing behind his eyes. "Master definitely likes that idea, kitten. Maybe on our first month anniversary I'll buy you another. Or.. possibly a collar?" He grinned devilishly, eyes wandering over Kurt's exposed neck and shoulders. The boy was perfect. Flawless. He smiled blissfully as Kurt nuzzled him back, voice humming as he simply absorbed the closeness. It felt so natural, how easily they fell into place. Kurt's voice, his touch, his scent, it all sent Dave's heard in motion. Dave was naturally gentle, a soft soul behind built walls. Kurt so easily broke down those barriers leaving Dave putty in Kurt's hands. And, it would seem, Dave did the same to Kurt.

"Pie?" Dave perked up, the lust residing for a moment as his eyes lit up. "What kind of pie?" Okay, so deep down Dave was a child at heart as well. How couldn't he be effected? Food was a secret love of his, a passion he was a little ashamed to say he adored. Kurt had spoken that magic word and it was a quick and easy method to making him smile like an idiot. Suddenly lips were on his, his excitement for potential pie taking a back seat as lips desperately sought each other out. Groaning into the kiss, he backed Kurt up leading him to the island counter. He let his hands wander from the tail cupping under Kurt's arse before heaving the boy up onto the counter with ease. Dave was leaning up in this position, but he didn't much care, arms encouraging Kurt to wrap his slender legs around Dave's stomach. Once they ran out of breath, he reluctantly parted, foreheads resting against each other as he panted hot breaths trying to regain himself. He caught Kurt's eyes, his own gleaming with joy and amusement, "We really need to start on this food, Kitten."

Kurt woke up extra early that morning. For one thing, he could barely sleep that night with the prospect of going on an official date - the first one with Dave and his first one ever. He’d been far too excited to sleep as he had been to focus on most things since got home from that fortunate intervention. But it was more than excitement that got Kurt on his feet - he wanted to look his absolute best for the occasion. Even if they would be cooking and sitting outside Kurt still wanted to look perfect. Or perfect for Dave. Once his skin and hair looked good enough to pass his own scrutiny, he picked one of his designer puffy sweaters and pulled it on. It showed just the curve of shoulders, and he wondered just what Dave would think. Skinny jeans were always in order but this one time there was one little touch they needed that wasn’t usually there. Kurt attached his cat tail to the back of his jeans and wiggled it proudly, happy to feel a little more cat like. He then pinned two matching pointy ears to the top of his hairdo. It was funny how much happier those unusual accessories made him, compared to what he wore most of the time. Maybe he wasn’t just making himself perfect for Dave - he looked perfect to himself too.

He might have left the house a little too early as well. But he was just too anxious to be with Dave - on a date - to stay put. In his satchel - a different one - he brought some recipes that he had found appropriate the night before and the diet or light version of some of the most dangerously fattening ingredients. The drive to Dave’s place was certainly different this time around. He was nothing but excited and he couldn’t stop grinning. The streets seemed to pass by in a flash, and Kurt felt like waking the whole neighbourhood just to let everyone know how happy he felt.

Kurt pretty much skipped to Dave’s porch and was about to ring the bell when he heard his voice. Deep, clear, in perfect tune, and singing a song that made his whole spine shiver. Was he the pussycat on Dave’s mind? He giggled and blushed at the same time. Because Dave was thinking of him and singing to him. He had to listen more and more closely before he interrupted. It was a slight chance but Kurt tried it by turning the knob. To his surprise it actually worked! Kurt sneaked into the house wearing a wide grinn, and followed the sound of Dave’s voice as quietly as he could. He got to the kitchen door a peaked inside where Dave was not only singing but cooking along with the melody.

For a while Kurt stood by the door, listening to his boyfriend’s warm voice and watching him move about. One thing Kurt could be sure of - he had excellent taste and his romantic choices were no exception. He eventually had enough of just standing there and moved just as quietly into the kitchen. He step close behind Dave and got on his tiptoes so he could speak in his ear . “Meow” He mimicked it as well as he could and knew, to let his master know is pussycat was right there.

Dave was still swaying, singing a little too loud and enthusiastically than needed. He was in another round of 'What's new, Pussycat' when his breath hitched, hairs on the back of his neck standing on edge as he swore he could feel a breath on his neck. A 'meow' cut him off mid song, a loud 'GAH' escaping his mouth as he juggled the knife unsteadily trying not to drop it. His head spun around, hand pressed over his suddenly beating way too fast heart while the other finally got a handle of the knife. Taking notice of Kurt behind him, he tilted his head back trying to steady his breath. Where the hell did he come from? He hadn't been listening to him, had he? Hadn't watched as he swung his hips and practically used the mixing bowl as a dance partner? Shit..

"Babe, when did you.." he was cut off, eyes finally turning back to Kurt taking in the ears atop his head. He raised an eyebrow, jaw slack as he put down the knife and fully turned to his boyfriend, eyes fixated on the ears. "So these are the infamous kitten ears I've heard oh so much about, huh?" He reached up taking one ear between his finger tips and simply running his fingers gently over the fake fur. "And you got these out for lil' ol' me? What's the special occasion?" He teased, arm wrapping around Kurt and pulling the other close. "My kitten's a little early today, isn't he?" He nudged Kurt's nose with this own, lips barely touching as he simply ghosted his own across Kurt's. His hand ran down Kurt's back stopping abruptly as he felt yet more fur. Raising an eyebrow once again, he ran down it feeling it like he had the ears. Yep, Kurt was definitely wearing a tail. "God, you're gorgeous," he breathed, teasing Kurt and refusing to close the last millimeters. "I hope you don't mind, but I sort of started without you."

What's new, Pussycat? Woah woah! What's new, Pussycat? Woah woah wooah!

Dave's hands made quick work slicing and dicing his way through the ingredients, an almost ecstatic smile still spread over his features. Today was the day they had their real official date. Considering how their other encounters had gone, Dave was just happy to have a normal day with Kurt. His boyfriend. Shit, did that thought make him grin like an idiot. So he was starting early without Kurt? He was excited, and who could blame him? Kurt had wanted to help prepare their picnic. It couldn't hurt that Dave had already given himself a head start on the salad, right?

Pussycat, Pussycat, I've got flowers, And lots of hours, To spend with you! So go and powder your cute little pussycat nose!

Dave swayed a little to eagerly to the beat, voice ringing out in a deep vibration throughout the empty household. He remembered his mother's suspicious looks at Dave's over eagerness to get her out of the house. He couldn't blame her, he was a terrible liar. Plus the only times he was ever excited to see morning light was Christmas. And Easter. And his birthday. Okay, so he was a little to excited often, but this? This was better then some wrapped up size-too-small socks and half melted chocolate. This was Kurt freakin' Hummel. His boyfriend. His kitten. At the words of the song, his eyes flashed up to the small bouquet of purple carnations. God, did Kurt even like carnations? Was it too stereotypical for him to get the other boy flowers? Dave shook his head frowning. He was over thinking this. Kurt would be there at any moment. He couldn't let his mind get the better of him. Kurt as special. Perfect. Flawless. Maybe Kurt was right and that was only in his eyes, but that didn't change the grin still spread on his lips. Today would be perfect, he just knew it.
