MASTERS OF MAPLE CREATES ONE OF A KIND
DRUM KITS FOR CAPITOL STUDIOS
September 29, 2015- Los Angeles, CA- Masters of Maple has partnered with Capitol Studios to create one of a kind drum sets for their studios. The first kit will be installed next week in Studio B, known throughout the industry as one of the best sounding drum rooms in the country.
The Masters of Maple and Capitol Studios engineers collaborated on the design of the drums. Both parties were heavily involved in the conceptualization and design of this project, as this is
the first drum set custom built for the studio since it opened in 1956. True to their process, Masters of Maple hand selected American grown timbers to align with Capitol Studios’ legacy of artisan craft.
The drums feature the signature “Neo-Classic Series,” blend combining gum and mahogany for a tone that is versatile enough to suit modern tastes, as well as pay homage to the classic sounds that built the studio’s legacy. The drum set also boasts a 14x28” bass drum, a particular size that
has been used by Masters of Maple’s growing studio clientele. Aesthetically the drums needed to compliment the studio’s unique mid-century design. A stunning red gum outer ply is finished in a natural lacquer, allowing the drums to age beautifully over time.
Artists sometimes bring in their own equipment, however, playing an instrument that was tailor made for a particular studio is another unique option that Capitol Studios offers their storied
clientele. The addition of these drums alongside key pieces of equipment such as Frank Sinatra’s original microphone and chair, Nat King Cole’s New York Steinway “B”, as well as Neve’s state of the art consoles, only build on Studio B’s reputation as one of the most sought after rooms in the world.
Masters of Maple’s products are respected, and due to their limited availability, are sought after by many of the top producers and artist in the industry. Clients include Awolnation, Cage the Elephant, Walk the Moon, and Capital Cities.
