Gameshow Host Valentines.
Match Game 73 (Episode 85) (Can We Get A Little Milk From Patti?)
It’s time to start the countdown to the new year with (what else?) New Year’s Eve episodes! In this, the first one ever, we can see that by the end of 1973, Brett & Charles had not only gotten comfortable in the show and more outspoken, but had already become a double act with their banter and merciless teasing of one another that the audience loved so much (and still does today!). It also features what might be their first ever smooch (although I could be wrong), and of course the first ever sign change and New Year’s Eve par-tay!
I’d just like to wish all of you, my loyal followers, my new followers, and all of you out there just reading this via tags or whatnot, a very merry Christmas; and if you don’t celebrate that, then wishes for love and joy and peace and everything wonderful, especially as we near the end of another turbulent year. And I can think of no other episode for this day than THE definitive “Match Game” Christmas episode, the last one from 1978. So, whether you want to revisit a classic or if you’re wondering what the heck is going on in those pictures above, here it is from me to you (okay, actually it’s from Brett, Charles, Gene, and all the wonderful players and crew of “Match Game” who put it all together so many years ago to make people smile. I’m just the messenger). :)
Time for the countdown to Christmas, all full of goodies I didn’t get to show last year. First up is from 1976, where Charles is upset that he didn’t get to play Santa Claus. :( But fear not, he may not be jolly but his wit is as sharp as ever. Cheer up, Charles, it’ll get better, trust me. :)
Match Game 75 - (Aired on the 29th of April 1975)
The Godfather said, “I’m a changed man, I no longer shoot guns… Instead when I get mad at a guy I throw a BLANK at him.”
Good answer.

Happy Halloween! You wanted something different, you got it! This is the pilot to “Match Game ‘90”, hosted by the late, great Bert Convy, with a set-up more like the classic MG we all know and love… and featuring a Halloween question with an answer so naughty, the panelist who gave it ran into Charles’ arms in embarrassment. XD
And, since I am a generous host, to make up for the lack of Brett in the featured video, I’ve got more treats:
- For those who want to see it again, the MG90 Halloween special (in one piece again at last)! (Really, I should have thought of doing it this way all along. Doy.)
- Brett & Charles highlights of a Halloween question blast from the past.
- And, in honor of Bert Convy, who, had he been able to host the show itself, I do believe would have given much more attention and respect to Charles (& Brett when she was there): Halloween episodes of “Super Password” : 1, 2 (in two parts but worth it), 3 (ditto). Plus his 1958 single "The Monsters Hop" (Yes, believe it! That voice is unmistakable). R.I.P., Bert. You are still missed dearly after all these years.
Have a happy and safe Halloween, everyone. :)
