Hi Becky! You are awesome! I understand if you don't respond to this, and I not am trying to cause trouble in your comments, but what is your opinion of Jo Jorgensen, the presidential candidate for the Libertarian party? Just out of sheer curiosity!
So none of this is directed at you, personally, but I despise Libertarianism. I flirted with Libertarianism in my youth, when I was totally unaware of my privilege, and the function of government in a Western Liberal Democracy. I guess I believed in the basic pitch, but once I learned more about what it meant in practice, and the more I met pasty white revanchists who made up the majority of party members, the more I saw it for what it was. My flirtation lasted about a year, when I was maybe 21, and then I grew out of it.
The selfishness, the inherent racism, the commitment to turning their backs on everyone who isnât as privileged as they are, it all disgusts me.
No Libertarian will ever be elected president in America, and I all I can hope is that whatever clown is running as a Libertarian candidate will suck votes away from Turmp to increase Bidenâs win.
Libertarianism is a philosophy followed by college-aged young men who have never lived on their nor paid any bills nor struggled in any appreciable manner. (The only people I ever come across to actually call themselves Libertarian tend to be my college students, outside of Montana where I grew up and thatâs another joke). In order for it to work, it has to be a form of communism (the true meaning of the word, not the way itâs used in politics) because itâs virtually impossible for a bunch of people to be that selfish and have a functioning anything (this is why every attempt at Libertarian community has failed). Never forget, Ayn Rand hated the Libertarians because they bastardized her Objectivism which for her was an entire way of life, you donât just apply it to politics and economics (Steve Ditko is an actual Objectivist). I find Libertarianism to be one of the most dangerous, navel gazing, selfish, brutal, and fool hardy philosophies one can follow.
