gilbert baker designed his flag with the express purpose of it including every single queer person. baker was so dedicated to making sure his flag was inclusive that he added another stripe in 2017, lavender, to represent diversity. the concept that it’s for white gay men came around later and needs to be changed.
can we please go back to associating the original flag, and ideally the modern rainbow flag, with inherent inclusion of every single queer person? instead of deciding that the original wasn’t good enough? personalized flags are important for representing those who have typically been excluded from the queer community, but reclaiming the original flag as a symbol of inclusion is important too.
Armadillo officinalis and assorted offspring.
babies are growing slowly but faster than I expected. seems like there’s some color variation among them, although I’m not sure if it will last.
What's going on in the congo rn is one of many many reasons that the right to repair is a VITAL tenant in leftism imo
At this point smartphones, laptops, and other similar devices are necessary for daily life in the US. Like if I did not have a phone and a laptop, I couldn't hold down a job, it would be extremely difficult to access public transportation, my education depended upon my ability to access the internet, etc. Tech companies know that their products are indispensable. So do they make products that last? No of course not, they need you buying a new device every two years. That just makes sense under capitalism. But ofc this system spreads far beyond our borders; this system of planned obsolescence is supported by the plunder of the global south for lithium (like in Bolivia) and cobalt (like in Congo).
The imperialist extraction of resources could be challenged if, say, we could repair a device rather than needing to purchase a new one. Companies like apple know this, and have gone out of their way to make such things impossible just to continue making shit products for too much money. It sucks!
True conclusion but the replacement parts are the ones requiring the cobolt and lithium. So its more about recycling than right to repair, except maybe in the case of cars where there can be cell level battery repair rather than swapping the whole battery.
Recycling in also critical to a socially sustainable future :)

MANY PEOPLE ARE CONFUSED BY WHY so I will post these images and not elaborate ( genus Caloptilia )
(img source)
and some blurry images taken by me to showcase the Stance
“why” has an answer and that answer is by making a shape unlike most other moths or animals in general it simply won’t register as potential prey quite as quickly to as many predators :)
