1. You know how Mulan herself is an amazing feminist icon?? Well guess who gets put up on a pedestal as an exception- not the rule???

2. That army? With the characters? That were mostly dicks but were kinda cool?? Yea… you get two with actual personalities.

3. Speaking of personalities- NO ONE HAS ANY! ESPECIALLY MULAN HERSELF.

4. DIVINE RIGHT TO EXCELLENCE!!! WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??? FUCK AROUND AND FIND OUT!!! :DDDDDD

a. But what I really mean is- Mulan ends up with a special ability that makes her more capable than her male contemporaries. Not her wits, not her bravery, not anything that is intrinsic to her as a person- it’s described in the movie as something only the most true are able to use and… I REALLY WISH they hadn’t described it like that. I hate that she’s only allowed to be the best and most respected soldier when she’s allowed to use this ability. It makes it sound like she’s only valuable as a soldier because she has this distinct ability and she’s only allowed to have a relationship with other members of the army when she becomes the BEST.

b. Like, holy flying FUCK does it piss me off that Disney keeps doing this to their female protagonists. I hate that they feel like their female characters have to be undeniably better than their male counterparts to be taken as seriously as them. It reveals a facet of our culture that I… really don’t know what scares me more- the thought that the original characters were just accidentally amazing or the fact that our culture has degraded SO DAMN MUCH that this is what a woman has to look like to us in order for us to be as marketable as the male characters.

I could go SO MUCH FURTHER into detail but like… bottom line is don’t watch this movie. The rage at my favorite Disney princess and her story being done SO DAMN DIRTY took me over when I watched this.

I work at a cafe next to a Starbucks that had to close because someone who worked there got Covid. But DeSantis isn’t gonna close the state despite the fact that we need that to stay safe because his head is up Trump’s ass and he’s a giant piece of shit. Go to any streets that close for art events, you’ll find at least 1 good potter selling their wares there

I got the cup I use for my bathroom at Las Olas, Florida for their art fair a few years back, it was like $15ish but the potter had a set all in the same color combo of a bowl, 2 sized plates and 2 different mugs. I just wanted the one small cup but I’ve got the card somewhere

At the same art fair a year or two later a different potter was there selling his stuff and that’s who I got one of my tea mugs from for like again $15isb
