And I know the *point* of bayonetta is that she's a diva and an icon and a power fantasy so I shouldn't really be mad that people talk about her mostly in that light but it upsets me that the actual tragedy of her backstory and the angst within her character isn't really addressed by people. It somehow feels like an injustice bc once again a female character is simply a girl boss and not a full person when the story she's from *did* take the time to make her a compelling character outside of her persona. As someone who has dabbled in the black arts somewhat, allow me to offer a few clarifications:

US-East-1

US-East-1 is part of the AWS chungus. It's a data center somewhere in the U.S. state of Virginia, they won't tell you exactly where, and if you decide to run your tech company on AWS and don't deliberately choose otherwise, the actual computers making it go will be in US-East-1. So if US-East-1 is having problems, that affects a lot more things than if some other piece of AWS is having problems. I couldn't find the wizard battle in the notes but I am guessing it's an argument over whether AWS should be more aggressive about encouraging people with brand new startup tech companies to pick a data center other than US-East-1. My personal opinion about this is "don't use AWS at all, nowadays it's just giving Jeff Bezos all your money with extra steps."

Why DNS is a fucker

DNS is the telephone directory for computers. When you access a server by name, DNS is the thing that takes the name (like "www.tumblr.com") and turns it into the numeric address (like "192.0.77.40") that's actually used to communicate with the server.

The basic problem with DNS is, for it to work correctly, four different groups of human beings all have to be on the same page about what's supposed to be in the directory: the people actually running the server, and the people providing the server with access to the internet, and the people who maintain the big list of names that end with the suffix the server operators picked (e.g. ".com" or ".ua" or ".yuri"), and the people who sell access to those lists (yes, really, those last two groups are separate). You can see how it's easy for there to be a miscommunication.
