16/10/2020 | I have so much work to do and I have a presentation this afternoon that I'm only halfway through making so I got up at 6am and I feel like shit
05.12.2019 ~
Today consisted mostly of writing flashcards for the math course I'm taking (exam next Friday! Eep) and programming. Currently working on an epidemiology-project, which is super interesting!
Didn't leave the apartment all day, so I'm really looking forward to getting out and meeting people tomorrow! 🌻
some things to do when you can’t seem to keep your focus
• freshen up - shower, wash your face, brush your teeth, etc. I’ve found cleaning myself up like this to be extremely helpful in helping me gain my focus back. It’s like it has the same effect as a cup of coffee in the morning - you’re refreshed and ready to get back to work.
• exercise - whether it’s a trip to the gym, a walk/run around the block, or just a quick 50 jumping jacks, getting your blood pumping has an immediate effect on your brain to focus more efficiently.
• have a light snack - something healthy and small typically.(apples, pita bread and hummus, carrots and hummus, granola bar, any fruit really, etc.) however, if you’re feeling lightheaded or anything along those lines, have a full meal. (another tip; save junky food for the weekends, eat healthy during the work week)
• go through your studyblr - the studyblr community has the amazing benefit lacking in all other communities in that (in my opinion) it actually motivates you to work rather than tempt you to procrastinate. seeing other people study and get shit done definitely makes me want to study as well. after scrolling through tumblr for 10 minutes or so, I almost always am ready to work. However, if you catch yourself scrolling for too long, or if studyblr just doesn’t have that « get shit done » effect on you, then don’t do it.
• journal - not for school, for yourself. I highly suggest having a journal and making it all yours. don’t listen to what everyone says you should put in your journal, do whatever the hell you want. also, don’t ever ever feel bad because you haven’t written in a long time. do what you want when you want. doodle, make spreads, write about your life your mom your dog your new shoes, make lists, jot down ideas, anything you want!! Many times when I’m unable to study I find the reason being because there is something else on my mind that I cannot stop thinking about. when this happens, I write about it. I get everything I’m thinking out on paper and afterwards, I feel much more clear minded. This really works, just don’t let yourself go for so long that you lose too much time for studying.
• clean - the best thing to clean is your desk/study space, but cleaning in general can be super helpful to get your focus back. I don’t know why?? All I know is that it works.
• bask in one of your hobbies - taking a short 15-20 minute break to draw, play an instrument, read leisurely, etc. is super helpful. These things require focus, and since they are more enjoyable to you, that focus will be easier to maintain. This is an enjoyable way to get your brain into concentration mode. (Playing instruments have been shown to benefit you in school!! since your hands are doing two different things at once, it forces you to use both sides of your brain)
okay i’m just gonna say it here once and for all but one simply cannot have enough notebooks and journals like there’s always stuff to write like i literally just bought notebooks a few days ago and now i want to stock up on more
october 09, 2020 ♡
Some excerpts of an Italian journal that I started and I love it so much! I try to journal everyday and fill up a whole page so I can use more words and phrases!! I’m honestly amazed and proud of myself with how much progress I’ve made considering that I didn’t really start seriously learning Italian until, like, last month! Also, I have this habit now where, if I’m writing something, I start inserting Italian words out of nowhere!! These past few days, I’ve mostly been listening and dancing to Italian songs and, currently, I’m very much in love with Dove E Quando by Benji & Fede (è davvero fantastico!) and a couple of other Italian songs. I’ve also been watching a lot of videos about languages and perhaps thinking of picking up Spanish? Fun fact, when I was vaguely planning my gap year like last year, I knew I wanted to learn a language so I just chose Spanish, but little did I know that I would find true love in Italian. Tbh though, not to be a softie, but I love Italian so much like I love how it sounds, I’m always feeling great when I’m learning it, I love the culture, and I’m just…wow. The world is so amazing. Also, I finished Julie and the Phantoms and it was amazing!! I’m so ready for a second season; so many unanswered questions!! I hope y’all had a great week and take some time to relax this weekend!! 🤍✨

I’m finally back home in Colorado! I can’t believe it – but my room is wholesome and beautiful. My grandpa handed down nearly 100 “great collection” books of classics and my room is filled!!! I’ll post pictures soon. <3
I only have one week left of “classes” even though it’s just three papers I have to submit online. Can’t believe I’m almost done!
I need some new tumblr challenges now that I made it through 100 days of productivity, so if anyone has any ideas please tag me or send them my way!
Hope everyone is staying safe, healthy, and happy. xx
This really blew up 🥺♥️ I’m following all of y’all out of sheer love and happiness

🥀 It's a good thing summer ended when it did, dried flowers were starting to take over my room.
I’m back to drinking a lot of tea during the day.
Day 3 - Why did you create your studyblr?
I mostly lurked around studyblr even before opening my blog but one day I just opened it. It’s mainly to motivate myself and others.
Writing a short story for English, need some prompts.

Notes notes notes. I couldn’t live without my notebooks; I tried typing up thoughts and lecture notes, but it’s just not the same (and I quickly forget almost everything). I treated myself to some new Moleskines this semester, just because the whole world feels slightly out of hand these days, and now they accompany me on a daily basis. Currently working on ancient metallurgy and literary theory while it’s raining.

This morning I woke up around seven, I went out in the chilly weather and I couldn’t feel any fatigue even though I slept 3h last night. When I got back home I had a cup of coffee and I started writing and sketching, it was a pleasing day and I feel so productive.
