Welcome to the Matlock Café
“Michael O’Mara. Call me Mike though. I work at Alchemax downtown. I’m kind of a scientist.” There was no shockin’ way he was going to tell her his real name. The less people that knew the name Miguel O’Hara, the better. He couldn’t afford the chance that Alchemax could find out his real name. He’d only met this girl after all.
“It’s good you came back. This is quite a spot you’ve got here. It’s quickly becoming my new coffee spot.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you then, Mike.” Courtney smiled and nodded her head in greeting as she went about finishing up the order she had. He seemed like a nice enough guy. Fairly young looking to be a scientist though. But then again, so did half the people working in Stark Tower. “Ah well then more than happy to hear it! The more coffee addicts I can get addicted and away from Starbucks the better!”

“well i am fast and nimble … and need the cash for school “ she said with a smile “ and yes quiet my dad loves the stuff he is the duck in the red suit that comes through here “
“School, hm? Can I ask what you’re studying?” Courtney returned the smile and grabbed a tray of treats from the back counter, going to restock the display case.
”I like to wear pearl earrings, I like red lips. I figure if I stick to classics I won’t have as many cringe-worthy moments looking back 25 years from now.”

"I love the way she bites her lip."
Welcome to the Matlock Café
“This place has a way of always drawing people back to it I’ll give it that. What’s your name by the way?”
“I suppose it does. Oh right! I’m sorry, I never did properly introduce myself. I’m Courtney Matlock. Owner of this here café.” She smiled proudly before tilting her head a little in question. “Can I ask yours?”

“It keeps me busy. On top of classes it’s a pretty tall order but I think I can handle it. I’ve certainly met enough interesting people.” Sam continued to peruse the menu, seeing what else might strike her fancy. It all looked wonderful.
“Ok then, looking forward to it.” She pulled her laptop out of her bag and opened it, figuring she’d quickly check her email. “So… do a lot of the people from the tower come here then? I’ve heard this place mentioned and some shawarma place. I don’t even know what shawarma is or if I’m even pronouncing it right.”
“Class as well as being an intern? My, you must either be very well at multi tasking or a gluten for stress.” Courtney smiled at her to make sure the woman knew she was simply teasing as she went about filling her order.
When she mentioned shawarma, Courtney couldn't help but laugh as she nodded her head. There were many a time where she’d walk out to see Tony Stark sitting at a table drinking his coffee with one of the Avengers’ favorite foods sitting in front of him. “Yes, quite a few do. I suppose constantly being over there for repair bills attracted attention. We get an equal amount of SI employees and superheroes in here on a daily basis.”
Loaded Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
Of everything you have to offer at your shop, what would you say is your favorite thing?
“Oh I don’t think I have a favorite thing exactly. It’s next to impossible to choose. Everything we serve is delicious and Kaz’s baking is phenomenal. Asking me to pick a favorite is like asking a parent to choose their favorite child.”
Welcome to the Matlock Café
“My father sent me for some of your dimensional famous coffee and a doughnuts… i was also wondering if you were hiring “
“Dimensional famous, huh? My, that is either a wonderful compliment of you’re somehow related to an alien.” Courtney smiled none the less at the woman, practically used to things like that being an everyday occurrence in her life. “As for hiring, I’m not sure... We might be depending on your credentials and what you think you would bring to our table.”
HAIL HYDRA.
“Excuse me?”
Welcome to the Matlock Café
“Not exactly. I went…home for a while. Was going to move back in with my brother. But it didn’t exactly work out.” Didn’t work out was an understatement. He doubted he was ever going to see Gabe again now.
“So I’m back here. Apartment and job exactly where I left them. What about you? What took you out of the city? Just needed a break for a while?”
“Something like that, yes. My best friend had a family emergency and since we’re practically family, I went with her. It took a little longer than expected and I couldn’t stand being away for so long so here I am.”
Happy Easter!
“For the rest of today a free treat of your choosing comes with any purchase. Have a wonderful holiday and if you don’t celebrate, then have a very lovely Sunday.”
Coffee coffee coffee
“It smells amazing.” Samantha commented. “I appreciate a good cup of coffee as well as a good treat to go with it. And you’re right, I’m an intern.”
She scanned the menu. “Do you have a dark chocolate mocha? I had one once at a coffeehouse in Seattle and I’m hoping to find one here in New York that’s comparable. And how about… some coffee cake?”
She’s quite excited about the fact that there’s a place that’s right across the street that wasn’t fast food.
“An intern, hm? That must be fun.” Courtney smiled a little as she grabbed an apron off the back counter and tied it around her waist. “Stark Tower does seem like an interesting place to work. Never a dull moment that’s for sure.”
At the question Courtney smiled proudly and nodded her head. “We do indeed and I can assure you, you haven’t taste the best until you’ve had ours.” She stepped behind the counter to get started on the order.
